Your touch with greatness?

Found this thread on another forum i frequent.

I figure this could get interesting to hear some stories about your encounters with politicians, writers, celebrities, leaders etc. Maybe some horror stories about them too.

1)During a military convention in Charleston, SC myself and a few buddies ran into Tom Clancy. We drank free beer for hours at the banquet then he took all of us (6 people) out for a lobster dinner (his treat). He took notes and asked questions the entire time but it was a real treat. We then went back to the convention and got completely hammered with Tom and some military heros of WWII to present. This was the 82nd Airborne Division Associate Convention in Charleston, SC Aug. 6-11 2001

2) Ran into Gallagher in Hawaii with a 18yr old drunk hooker hanging off him FOR THE YOUNGER PEOPLE THAN MYSELF

3)I ran into Bill Murray in Shibuya, Japan at the Resturant Fridays... i believe this was before the filming of 'Lost in Translation'. I looked at him while ordering a drink at the bar and said "love your work!". We chatted until i got my beer then i sat down.

4)I was on a security detail in Washington, D.C. during a Ball at the Library of Congress (beautiful BTW). I was guarding an entrance and stopped Gen. Hugh Shelton (the man) from using a emergency exit. BFD, right?

5)Took a **** next to Dean Koontz (one of my fav authors) at a Barnes and Nobles during one of his book signings.

That's about all i have. So let's hear what you have to say if anything...

Eric

Back when John Travolta was filming Phenomenon, he was staying in a home up the street from my friends house. One night I ran in to him at a local chinese place. He was HUGE. Real nice guy. Shook his hand and got his autograph.

Past that..nothin

ask matt about getting touched by greatness and see what kind of responses you get...

i think the closest thing to meeting a celebrity for me was meeting the guys from Tesla. oh, and I almost got thrown up on by the singer from Papa Roach.

I literally bumped into Keanu Reeves in New York in 2001. I was walking out of a restaurant in Soho and ran right into him. I looked up and said "hey I you're Keanu Reeves". He just looked at me, smiled and got into a Taxi.

My freshman year in high school my schools bball team played on the colliseum floor before the warriors. I was out there shooting around when Timmy Hardaway came strolling in and started chatting with me. I got his autograph on a rookie card. He said I had a pretty nice shot...I challenged him to a 3 point shoot out...I won. best of 10. Just foolin around but still....I won. haaa. hit 8.

(used to play hoops every now and again with a few warriors in san ramon at club sport)

I've met a few pro athletes.

Actors are a little more rare for me.

But I was strolling in S.F. in the height. I see this hippie looking balding dude and look over at him....it was Woodie Harrelson. He was buying weed.

My best and I have living proof...my little brother was there. Thanksgiving or some holiday..can't remember exactly years back...we were at the grandparents house down in coste mesa. We were board as hell so we take off to this tiny little pool hall. Nobody there...then this group comes in. female. One older dude. and a little girl. The older girl has a short freakin skirt on tall boots and a tight shirt and is hot as hell. I'm like...dude that's the girl from charles in charge (and baywatch) and he wouldn't believe me. So as they are leaving I stroll out and say...I don't want to be another freak fan but you're.....she says..nicole. I said yeah. Cool. well I don't want to bother you while your with family have a nice holiday. She then gave me her phone number.

I kid you not.

I was too young..though looked older and very stupid. I showed my brother he said I was full of **** and took the number. I think it got washed or something. But hey...I can say I had her number at one point in time...haaaa.

musicians are fun. I have spent a bit of time with POD just because I used to be big into the christian music scene...I was a music buyer. promoted shows and what not. so i've chilled with them a few time. Very nice guys. wuv is funny.

Speaking of music people. My room mate in some round about way is either related to someone or friends with someone related to one of the guys in metalica. He got to shoot hoops with a couple of the guys and just tool around for a few hours before a show and then go to the show...... don't ask me though. I'm not a big fan. haaa.
