So, why do performers lip sync in the first place? I never understood the practice. Cuz its hard to sing well and dance like a chimp at the same time? So every live performance can look like an MTV video?

Yes...and because most of them don't have tallent unless their voices get edited/filtered in the studio.

So she fesses up to lip syncing and apologizes for blaming the band... I also heard that she once stated in an interview and on her own forums that she feels lip syncing is just wrong and that she would never do it. So her excuse this time is the voice thing and that she could hopefully make a "few more fans" by being on SNL. I think she just lost quite a few more than that!
I don't like her type of music, or anything like it, but it's just sad that she got where she is by riding on the coat-tails of her sister (even following her in the sense of her own show on tv) yet I know there are plenty of aspiring singers out there that have a heck of a lot more talent. I just know how hard it is to get into the business, and I also know it helps when you have connections, even when you can't really sing. I guess it will eventually come back to bite you, like we see here.
