xgames
I just want to go on record and say the 2010 X Games Rally and Super Rally are the worst racing events i have ever witnessed. Who planned this crap? Demolition Derby's have smarter people running them. The only word I can think of to describe the course design is retarded and the only interesting race ended prematurely when some idiot waved the checkered flag one lap too soon. Oh well it was such a gong show doesnt seem like anyone noticed or cared.
I'm guessing the Fords were factory prepared and all other teams were independent?

Both outfits have close ties to the respective manufacturer.
I'm with you on most of that, but actually that "idiot" (who I consider to be a very good friend of mine BTW) was the only guy there who apparently can count to 5, the TV commentators and the on-screen lap counter were wrong, but the flagger was right.
I wish that were the case, but a lot of people tuned in and a lot were there in person and I expect that the overall impression of "sux" is going to take a while to wear off
The Fords were prepped by Olsberg in Sweden, who support Block's RA efforts, while the top Subies were prepped by Vermont Sports Car.

And awesome info on the cars, good to know
There was some on-air confusion after this point because the lap count on television didn't match the live race, but according to X Games Public Relations director, Katie Moses-Swope, "It was a technical error. The first driver took the first turn on the first lap wide and missed the timing line, so it didn't trigger the graphics to start and didn't register the first lap -- so the graphics [on the broadcast] were always a lap behind. The checkered flag was spot on."
x games is made for television.
rally racing isnt made for television... er CHEAPLY as possible produced television.
rally racing as i've known it (via watching WRC and volunteering for a few years at the RIM rally and most recently, NORTH NEVADA rally) is a point to point event.
you think espn would produce something like that for the average fan who's time span is as long as a ken block video on youtube?
remember, the first year rally made it into x games, the first part was a traditional rally event that ran in the gorman area IIRC. that ran like thursday or friday. then they had the special stages in the home depot stadium on saturday and sunday.
guess which had more spectators?
next year? it was all special stages in the stadium...
for some reason subi cars had alot of problems threw out the xgames rally....but ford dominated this year xgames rally except blocls car i dont know what the EFFF happen in the super rally

Notice which Subaru models had the troubles. The new body style. The other Subaru's of previous body styles were strong.
