WRC Rally DVDs [Revisited] - "2004 or Bust"

Some of you might remember that I planned on making some WRC dvds a long, long time ago. Unfortunetly that fell through after an unexpected, catastrophic loss of my hard drives - which, frankly, turned me off the project for quite a while.

Suffice it to say, I'm back, with 14 out of the 16, 2004 WRC Rallies written to DVDs already. So, if there is any interest in my little project, I might consider making more copies for people. Each Rally is on a seperate DVD (it's just the way it worked out) with it's coresponding Rally Magazine, and a basic [static] menu.

I'd like to point out that I am missing the Rally Magazine episode for the Germany and Japan rally (Round 10 and 11), so I've yet to complete those dvds. If anyone could supply me with copies of those episodes (in Analog or Digital Formats), I'd be greatful.

I'm also considering making a DVD (or two) of the ProRallies; though, I'm missing Rounds 1, 2, 5 (and possibly 7) so I'd need to find a source for my missing episodes.

I'd like to hear your thoughts before I decide on what I'm going to do.

WRC 2004 Available (Stay Tuned for WRC 2005)

The sets include 16 DVDs (Rounds 1-16)
They're burned on 8X DVD-Rs
Packed in paper sleeves

$26 Paypal for all 16 (I may accept a check if I'm in a good mood - with a 1 week waiting period). PM me if you want a set. FYI, I'll probably be shipping sets once or twice a week.

I've tested them on my computer, my modded X-Box, and my Apex DVD player. Other than that, I can't guarantee compatibility. But, if your DVD player isn't older than 4 years, it should work.

Any other questions, feel free to ask.

Get it going. How good is the picture quality? Do you have any samples?

Hey I'm interested also. If you'd like them compressed to smaller DIVX/XVID files, let me know.

I don't have any samples; I could pull a few screen-shots, but FMV samples would be too big or me to host. For reference, it's not full DVD quality, but they were pulled directly (ripped digitally) from my Satellite's DVR (544x480 res) - the quality is better than an analog capture, but not movie quality. I added a basic menu, so you can jump directly to the Rally Magazine or Rally section, and I cut the commercials out, marking each cut with a chapter point.

As I mentioned, I currently have one full round per dvd (Magazine and Rally). I had considered sticking two on there, but it ended up being just a little too big. I could shrink the rallies just a little, in order to stick two on, but next season it would mean waiting for two rallies to finish before making a dvd. There is also the possibility of DivX versions, which I can readily do, but I assume more people would like to have DVDs which they can pop into their set-top box.

I'd like to reiterate, I am missing two Rally Magazines (Germany and Japan) as well as four ProRalies (Round 1, 2, 5, and 7). If anyone can supply me with what I'm missing (either by mailing me a video or sending me a digital copy online), than I can finish the DVDs sooner (and I'll put you on the top of my list to send DVDs to).

Speaking of sending things out, I'd like to ask for input on how people might like to get their copies. Shipping would probably be the easiest method. I figured I could just stick the DVDs in little paper cd-pockets and ship the set in a small box. That way the shipping is cheaper, and you can stick them into something else (a DVD case, etc.) later. If anyone wants a single DVD (say to test it out), I can probably do the NetFlix thing, and send one via the mail (it might work, who knows).

Depending on how things go, I'd assume it shouldn't cost any more than $20, for the 2004 WRC and ProRally season, shipped.

Yes. Count me in for a set also. Just let me know when and
where to send the money

And your shipping method sounds fine with me.

As it is right now, the only thing stopping me from sending these out tomorrow, are the episodes I'm missing. If I at least get the two Rally Magazines from someone, I could send out sets (though I'd love to be able to include the ProRallies as well).

So, if anyone can get me a copy, or help me find a P2P source for the episodes I'm missing it would be great. I'll even give you $10 off if a set, if you can supply me with at least the Rally Magazines or ProRallies I'm missing - and you'll get the first copies.

One last thing - I picked up some small bubble mailers. So, if you'd really like to try out just one disk, I can stick it in a jewel case and send it in the bubble package. I'd assume it should be alright (I mean, NetFlix uses little paper mailers and they make it). It'll probably cost like $2-3 though (the USPS site is down, so I'm not sure). Tell me if you'd prefer a DVD+R or DVD-R. They're both TDK branded, made in Taiwan (not exact high-end, but good quality). I've got a bigger stack of -Rs right now, so that's what I plan on using.

You are the man Avatar-X!

I wish I could help you out to find those missing episodes, but I have nothing.

I'm ready with $$ as soon as you want to start selling. DVD-R seems to work best
for me. My DVD player chokes on the DVD+R's that I try to make for it. No problem
with the -R's though.

I just got satellite, so I don't have any (except the last one) Just an FYI tho, they'll re-air all the wrc ones starting the 22nd (I think) and going through the 1st And I believe some of the pro-rally's (though I can't find air time for them, anyone have a link). So if nobody gets u what u need by then, you can just pull them from the re-airing.

Sounds awesome though!!!

You're right, they will be reruning the Rallies (even the Rally Magazines) at the end of the year. So, unless anyone gets me copies sooner, consider the ETA to be 3-4 weeks.
