i don't think its cheap if it needs rebuild, and no turbo. well if you don't consider the labor cost and do everything your self then is cheap

Sounds like a deal....

...but how often does the dealership let you keep an ENTIRE ENGINE after a warranty replacement? Not only that, but why would they replace the ENTIRE ENGINE, instead of just the shortblock or longblock?

Sorry, but it does not add up. THen again, I don't have the cash either, so I have to hate!!

I think I'll pick this up and make it into a nice coffee table like in Top Gear. And it's a H4 so it'll be a great for support for the glass table

Still pretty pricey... I mean not even Crate & Barrel sell coffee tables for over $1K... So I'll have to bargain it down to maybe $600 OTD

On new model, low mileage cars entire engines are often replaced under warranty. During a production run there are a limited number of compete motors available. It happens.

Subaru doesn't always want the motor back, either.

B.T.W. its a indie shop that owns it. So sounds like they really dropped the ball on someone.

Anyone ever thought of assembling the motor yourself with parts needed?

This would save you tremendous amounts of $.

It can't be much harder than my buddies VR6 3.0 motor build.

Getting a block dipped and if needed some basic machine work, is not THAT expensive.
