Wine with Thanksgiving??

Okay, who's serving wine with their turkey?

If you are, what kind of wine are you serving? A nice Sangiovese, perhaps a Petit Syrah, or are you sticking with the traditional white wines like Chardonnay?

Are you trying something different tonight? If so, what are you serving?

Interesting. Which Napa Chardonnay are you serving? I'm just finishing my first bottle of Michelini Chardonnay, and going to move on to Pinot soon, I think. Depends on when my guests arrive.

It's called Bedarra. My gf's boss started the winery a year or so ago, and so she brought a couple of bottles home. It's decent - I'm not a huge fan of whites, but it isn't buttery/oak-y like traditional chardonnays - more crisp and acidic, kind of like a pinot grigio. I think it's pretty good for a white, although I'd prefer a good white Muga over it.

Indeed. Barossa Valley Shiraz is one of my favorites too. Vintage Wine Merchant in Santana Row usually has a pretty decent selection, at reasonable prices too. Hands down better than most Napa cabs....

I always like to sample one or two of this year's Nouveau Beaujolais while things are getting prepped, this year we followed that up with a nice Chard and a Merlot at dinner.

We enjoyed:

Michelini Chardonnay - mostly my personal bottle, as they didn't show up because of traffic.

Westwood Pinot Noir

Zahtila Vineyards - Zinfandel

Vincent Arroyo Petit Syrah Port

nice combination, plenty of wine, food and conversation with Rallywagon and friends to make for a great evening. I'm off to bed now that I've had at least a bottle and a half. Gotta be up and running tomorrow morning by 7 a.m.
