Look at this appendix if you want to know whats legal and what isn't

I'm sure there is an updated one somewhere. According to that oil seperators are legal. I think catch cans fit under that category. Also minor changes to vacuum hoses are ok as long as they dont change the configuration so technically gauges should be ok as well. An EGT sensor should also be ok since it doesn't change anything in the exhaust system.
There are shops that will turn you away as soon as they see a single modified part. They don't want to deal with the hassle. Others are more lenient. Most of these things are grey area items since you have to use your own brain to decipher whats legal and whats not.

I was given crap because the boost gauge is not on the under hood sticker. The tech made me remove the "t" that went to the gauge.
Oil catch cans and separators are perfectly legal.

really? AOS are legal? i thought they werent :no idea:
Remind them of that if one starts giving you ****. A casual "you sure? I would hate to have to call the BAR and report this" should fix the issue (and has for me a few times)

case in point, if a tech does ANYTHING outside the strict lines drawn for them, in their books and training, you can report them to the BAR and 9 out of 10 times, they WILL get their license revoked.

So I can run a crawford AOS and it's legal to run? I was under the impression they would fail you for running one.
