Why are you here?
Seriously guys, why are you here reading this bits of code that's translated into images onto your computer screen?
out of all of this negative talk and complaining,
what qualities of i-club that makes you stay here?
here's my story,
like a few other guys, i first got into the subaru cars indirectly through Initial D back in high school, then came drifting, and the branch of motorsports that look at control and technique (autox, rally, etc). i first joined this club near the end of the first quarter this year, and i've been just lurking around, reading, absorbing information, and what not. I bought my car in April 03 after my attempt of opening a business failed, and I started to be more active in Nasioc. my first impression of i-club was the tighter knit group and i found nasioc more noob friendly, prolly due to the lack of regular posting and being able to merge easier into the forums. late summer i tried to be more active around Stockton and the valley. i indirectly met edgar, met a few other subies around town. life was good. i went to the first sac meet. there i met kevin, matt, scott, and the others. i continued to lurk around the forums for the simple fact that i can learn more about my car and watch life as it unfolds. my shy persona in person reflects my shy persona online.
i am here, and i still will be here, because i enjoy the indirect companionship that i have toward my fellow subaru drivers, and specifically, impreza drivers.
i am here because i learn about the vehicle that i am driving daily, and i am constantly reminded of why i bought the vehicle in the first place
i am here because i-club helps me grow in different aspects of life. driving techniques, interpersonal relationships, track days, vendor sales, they all contribute to the community to help enrich one's life
and i still will be here because i enjoy knowing that i can go out to one of the meets and just blend in. being an active member isn't really about interacting sometimes, being an active member might mean being able to relate.
so let me ask,
why are you guys here?

I am here because I feel the sense of community that Alex has tried to create. I've made a lot of good friends that I wouldn't have otherwise. That's why I'm not that bothered by imperfections with the way some people interact. I take the good with the bad. Just not in t3h bu77XorZ.

I'm here because I'm in this club for the long haul. So what I "lost" 300 posts. Look in a persons profile and see how many overall posts they have. Its not like the posts are gone or those types are banned. And Alex isnt even done deciding and figuring out what to do. I'm not reading any of the drama threads because it doesnt matter to me. I have my own problems to deal with, who cares about this petty BS? Move on people, its not the end of the world...

one of the funniest things about this weeks episode- "the roll back of postwhore postcounts"- is that most all of the posts to the "drama" threads are to the effect of "who gives a damn?"
(with the exception of a couple of really socially challenged individuals who seem to think it makes any difference at all..
)
I was being mostly sarcastic in my lengthy rant this morning, but seriously, I hang here in hopes of finding a few other people who like to flail their subies down the awesome back roads we have all around us.
I've hooked up with some really good people and had some wonderful adventures, sure there are a few people I don't quite agree with on politics and stuff, and there are probably a few but I think very few- genuine dicks on here, but for the most part this is mostly a pretty cool buch of somewhat like-minded subie enthusiasts.
And I do get plenty of recognition from those that take advantage of what I've offered, so I'll get by just fine without a silly little gif under my picture-
with that said- they better never take away dahveeds bouncy avatar!!!, that would seriously ruin the i-club experience.

Cuz I felt lost in sea of people back on Nabisco and was intimidated by the likes of SubyGal, Goose, SubEd, and brucelee (oh wait that ogre's here too
)
But seriously, I joined at a time when Impreza owners still waved to each other on the road. There was a time when I kinda lost a bit of interest here, but then I realized after a bit how many cool people were here and realized that I kinda missed that sort of camraderie. Thanks to Vic for goading me into coming back and going to Eggettes
And I guess one more reason is that this place never gets boring or annoying IMHO. It's kinda like my online home. Well, here and the Japanese pr0n sites
Just kidding 'bout the last part. No, really. SERIOUSLY!!

I was originally here because I had a great interest in cars from the start. Before I wanted a Supra TT, then I started looking at other car stuff and it turned into wanting a 97-98 S14 with SR20DET swap... then I wanted something that was brand new that I could buy without having to do any mods and was turbo charged... that's why I got the Subaru I have now.
I'm also here because a guy in San Jose who owned a white wagon with plenty of mods at Milpitas Star Bucks reminded me about i-club and said the people here were nice and friendly, seems like the times have changed and people have become less friendly.
I'm starting to think that i-club isn't for me anymore.
Signed,
Outferno
