Does that place have a brothel in the back or something? It looks like a foreign bride outfit or something... I'd say 95% of the employees are foreign with heavy accents... some are freaking hot too
Anyone ever work there? What's the dealio?

maybe its owned by someone of that nationality, whatever that may be. whats the big confusion.
please tell me you have actually left the states. y'know, to like, another country... and everything.

I've thought about this too (though I haven't seen a hot one yet). Most of the women are either Indian or Asian. My theory is this, most of these women came over here b/c their husbands have some sort of sponsored tech job. The wives need a job, so why not work at a place that is sort of tech related and get a discount (assuming that employees do get discounts) on puter stuff.

My friend used to work at the Frys in Sacramento. It is a full time only job... so for all of them, they do not go to school.
The guys who write up the price quotes and help you out are paid on commission so they will jump over each other to write you up a quote on a flat screen TV or computer. The cashiers are also paid based on how much they ring up. The guys selling appliances like refridgerators and washing machines make the most commission. It's all very political where they will stick you in a department depending on who you know and your pay will pretty much be dependant on how much you sell. New people do not get to do sales.
I think something like if you work over 10 years, you get some special bonus and into their pension plan which is something a lot of them are waiting for.

Being a former employee, I can tell you why so many foreigners work there. It's easy to get a job there, in fact, just about any person can get a job there - regardless of background or skill. Secondly, they hire people for peanuts. They pay their sales associates minimum wage + comission. Comission there sucks too - unless you work in audio/video where there is a huge margin on all products. Lastly, everyone there is expendible; if you mess up, you're gone and easily replaced.

In the U.S. (bay area), I'm the one who looks like a foreigner
hhahaaBut seriously, I have no issue with Fry's using foreign labor... just wondering why or if there was some specific reason... you don't see that at any other tech store... and I love Fry's by the way... it's always been like that for as long as I can remember.
