Because they know that there are guys who feel inadequate and have the need to have a "big *******" car to make up for it. You'll notice how gaudy and over the top they make these cars - you could pick one out at least 3 miles away in a fog bank by the bright colors, huge body panels and other "look at me" accents.

They know that those customers won't go with anything understated like an AMG or BMW...

Aussie cars don't seem to do well in the USA... look at GM's attempt at the GTO a couple of years back.
Of course that thing was also kinda of POS

I always thought the "GTO"/Monaro was an great bang-for-your-buck performance car, with understated looks to camouflage with traffic so that cops wouldn't notice.

The G8/Commodore was cool too, but GM killed off Pontiac before sales could really ramp up.


Personally, I would love the Ford Falcon to come here, but I doubt it'll happen.

And yes, we already have a full-size performance sedan, the Fo' SHO
