I like the low note. You can have the high note horns. Anyone wanna go in it?

Have you tried DualTones? I have a set and they are more like an "aggravated Buick" horn. Like a G35 horn but louder (and much louder if you use the relay). I had SuperTones a few years back and I much prefer the DualTones note.

FYI.

I have supertones. They are 116 or so dB.

The horns come in 300 and 500 Hz, with each set containing one of each. They are very loud. I'd be interested to hear what it sounds like with two 300s or two 500s, but personally I like the dual frequencies.

Wow, I didn't think I'd get any response.

Well the price is whatever the lowest price we can find. We each pay for a package and then split the packages. Also, I've been looking over the Hella and Wolo websites. They have a whole mess of different horns, all around the 112-120 db range with many costing much less than the Supertone sets. The Supertones do have a pretty low Hz non-USA version, but only at 113db. I just want something that when I honk at someone because they are doing something stupid, they'd feel even stupider by honking back with some baby-goat sounding crap horn.

First I gotta start out with this set that caught my eye... 120db..
SUPER HORNS DISC HORN SET, MODEL 306-2T / 120 Decibels-345/290Hz
MSRP: $80

Supertone twin 118db 300Hz+500Hz
85114 (hightone only), 85115 (twin kit) - Ebay - $65
85113 is a non-USA kit, 113 db. 300 Hz+ 380Hz. - Ebay $45
Power: 72W, so that's a draw of 6A

Dual tone twin 118db 795Hz+840Hz A.k.a "Screaming junior high girls" - Ebay - $20
85105
Power: 240W, so that's a draw of 20A ?!?! WTF !?!?

Compact trumpet 110db 400Hz+500Hz
85101 (low tone), 85102(high tone), 85104 (twin kit, Ebay $26)
Power: ?

Wolo Air Horn Webpage has
MODEL 402 AIR MAX, DUAL TONE AIR HORN 118 Decibels-620/740 Hz
Power: ?
MSRP: $35 for red, $30 for black, $40 for chrome (yee haw!)

Ebay $20, MSRP $40
MODEL 417 LONG HORN, DUAL TONE AIR HORN TRUCK HORN SOUND, 118 Decibels-415/450 Hz
Power: ?

etc, and others...

and for lust-filled honorable mention, the horn I would love to have but the compressor would sorely weigh down my car: THE CANNONBALL EXPRESS:
CANNON BALL EXPRESS TRAIN HORN 152 (****** flockin) Decibels-150 (gibblet gigglin') HZ

The supertones are weak. I had the twin supertones and dual tones in my accord. The supertones sound like every other wimpy horn around, now the dual tone air horns are no joke. You can hear those things for miles. I have a set sitting in a box waiting to go in the wagon. I got the supertones from griots, and the dual tones from ebay.

I disagree with the "weak" statement. I have my supertones wired with a relay and separate wiring, and it will undoubtedly make your ears bleed if you are in front of the car.

It is an aimed device though. It sounds downright civil inside the car -- but anything in the cone of influence is hurt.

Mine are the "Compact Trumpet 110db" not the DualTones, tho they were labelled as DualTones on the ad. They draw 70W according to the box, and I still stand by their sound.

SuperTones are not weak, and do not sound like every other wimpy horn. They are freaking piercing-loud "Ferrari-Tone" horns. Maybe you didn't hook up the relays? The stock horn on my RS is weak and sounded like every other wimpy horn.

The actual "Dual Tones" air horns are rediculous. There was a guy in an old car club that would show up with a RAM 3500 with those and scare the bejeezus out of people. Seriously, they will make you jump out of your skin from a mile away.

Anyways.. The lower tone SuperTones would be cool to hear. I'll stick with the "Compact Trumpets" for now tho.

The supertones were marginally louder than my stock accord horns. The dual tones were scary as hell. With both of them on the car you could barely hear the supertones. I have both sets sitting out in my shed, and I've played with them a few times. Compared to the dual tones, the supertones are weak. It wouldn't do any good to make a video as the microphone won't distinguish the volume well. The pitch of the supertones is such that being inside a car in front of them getting blasted is more annoying that anything, meaning when you honk at someone if their windows are rolled up they aren't loud at all. The dual tones will scare the **** out of people 10 cars ahead.

I wasn't saying the supertones were bad horns, but if you want a horn that people can not only hear but feel as well, making damn sure your intentions are noted, the dual tones are the way to go. The compact trumpet horns sound good too.

*edit* These are the horns I have(I went out to my shed and got them), yes the bell on the trumpets used to be red, I painted them black because they stuck out like a sore thumb on my accord(you could see them through the lower air dam). These are the supertones I have, and to me they are weak comparably.

If someone is local and wants my supertones they can have them(yes free), I paid $69 from griots garage. The dual tones are going on the rex though.
