Lightbulb WHo has an external waste-gate? Is it annoying?

So I've been looking at used turbos and it seems like they are all EWG. I know the open dump adds more power but I've seen some youtube videos and its pretty freaking loud. Is it annoying or totally awesome never get sick of it? When does it open? A certain boost pressure...? Is it super loud partial throttle with boost?

Let me know BAIC

It sounds awesome. I think you can get certain springs so it opens up at a certain psi. I'm not 100% as I'm not running one nor do I plan on it

It can get annoying just as an exhaust drone does, but if you like that sort of thing then you wont mind it at all. I love the sound of an EWG, I always have so I don't mind it. I also love the sound of a turbo spooling and can listen to it all day long in every gear at every speed.

can it get annoying, yes.have a really bad headache and its annoying.the pros out weigh the cons.plus theres no reason to hear it anyway.theres always the option of routing it back into the DP.

I had one on my 06wrx and miss it everyday. It opened up around 3500rpm and was really loud, but sounded really nice.
If you live in cali and have cali plates, id be really careful though.

Set up right, it won't open until you get very close to full boost. So you can drive around nice and quietly and then step on the gas and all hell breaks loose . Its definitely a lot of fun.

How much power do you think an EWG ATP3071 or EWG ATP3076 would make on E85 (on your software)? I think you remember my setup, I have pretty much all the supporting mods except bigger TMIC, injectors and turbo.... itching for some E85 power... how big injector would I need for one of those turbos on E85? 1000cc?

my car is super quiet with the hush.......when I let off flooring it people look around to see where the rocket ship landed, but by that time my exhaust is so quiet and hey it can't be me!!!

OP-Whats your favorite track that just pumps you up?????

mine is fp greenjams with grimspeed external wg.

I literally drive my car just to hear it now.

also I would not compare it to exhaust droning. My ewg does not open up unless I floor it or I have to make a really fast move on the street and usually it only will open for a sec if so.........If i go run errands blah blah my ewg will not open and make loud noise. Very easy to avoid, and the ultimate sleeper......my car is so quiet!

I ran magnaflow on my 5.0 hush on my last sti. I like cars that sound good but that can be quiet when you want to be. I'm not someone who likes to get the loudest exhaust and be a jerk.

I'd expect around 390-400whp out of the 3071 and around 435-445whp out of the 3076. You would need at least 1000cc injectors for this... 1200's would be better
