i think that any financial decisions you make now, in Feb '08, will not have an impact on, say, your '07 return.

about the only thing you can do this late in the game is to find "receipts" for any "charitable donations" you might have made last year... hint hint.

yeah that sucks, they take about 1/3 of my paycheck, i've also heard that the upper class is getting more tax breaks and us middle class folks are getting hit the hardest.

yeah, but a wife pays off in other ways so, it's well worth it!

Sorry to be so tedious...but you can actually contribute to a traditional IRA, up to $4,000, for calendar year 2007 up until April 15, 2008 which can lower your taxable income for this tax filing. If you contribute to a 401k and make less than $53k it's a full deduction; more than $53k but less than $63k partial.

actually for an ira you can contribute up too 5k now. I have friends that make a good amount but unfortunatly the only thing you can do if you don't got kids, a house and etc is to max out on ur 401k and take the ira route. Personally I agree in terms of having a kid is a lot of money but hey hopefully if they aren't ***** ups they can payoff! hahah But in most cases yeah ur just passing ur genes but my kids are my life. I'm a proud daddy and even though I don't get to do all the things I use to be able to do before they are worth more then anything in the world which most parents can probably agree with! Speaking of which here is a pic of my crazy kids!

get a house

get a house

get a f-n house

if you have a job and good credit PULL the F-N trigger and get your renting **** in a house

the prices are low interest for a 30yr with good credit is 4.5 !!!!

im telling you... get a home
the housing market is in a slump but this is California and we will be the first state to pull out of it and your chance of getting a good deal on a home will be just another missed opportunity

so do your parents proud get your own place!!! get your tax right off and become a home owner

i got back 6k and yes im wife-less kid-less A home owner and damn happy

Ya Ray I just closed out a 401k from a previous employer that was starting to do me no good so I rolled it over to a traditional IRA. Hopefully this will give me a good break and give me more than $400 back from the feds

hmmmm...I must have missed the part where I said I hated CA But yeah, when/if I buy it will most likely not be in CA, I cant even fathom spending 300K+ for a small condo, not to mention the HOA fees, taxes, etc. It is pure insanity imo.

Anyways, I dont think we are at the bottom yet, there are still a lot of mortgages awaiting to be reset and more people to foreclose on overvalued assests that they couldnt afford in the first place.

hehe, they may return to the prices they were at...but how long will it take. I think with all the foreclosures and the fact that the loan companies aren't allowing all the creative loan options, it's going to get very hard for someone like myself to find a house in my town under 400k that a loan company will finance me for at terms that I'm comfortable with, not some 5/30 with 1 year of interest only...
