At the office today, because apparently the members of my Credit Union will wither and DIE if we are closed for more than 2 days in a row...

 

Back at work today , been off since Tues nite. Only 3 outta 15 ppl here. Guess I'll be taking down the holiday decor on my own.

 

I had to work mon.got called in for swing on wed. Half day on fri. Twelve hours on sat and sun. I love the holidays.

 

I dont think financial institutions can be closed for more than 3 consecutive days, thats why we are open.

 

here if the stock market is open...lame...

 

Banks are under that federal law IIRC; Credit Unions have a charter drawn up for local use and approved by our board of directors. We have been closed for 4 days before, but it was under special circumstances, the rest of the time we choose to be open.

 

Its not a federal law, at least not from the OCC who is responsible for oversight of banks, becuase if it were it would apply to banks, S&L's and CU's. I do believe it might be an FDIC regulation which must be followed if a bank wants to offer FDIC insurance.

 

Yeah, CUs are insured by the NCUA; and as far as I know, we aren't held to that - plus we are closed for 3 day weekends all the time through the year.

 

Yeah, 3 days is OK, 4 not so much.
