Who can spare some "scooby snacks"?

) but no "abuse." For instance, I started a thread several months ago asking for people's extra snacks. I created a fun little chart for my Scooby Snack progression and was really amazed at what a great response I got from the thread. I had fun, the people that donated to me enjoyed my little chart and, as far as I know, no one was upset with swapping Scooby Snacks. I even gained a new friend or 2.
In my own honest opinion I think the Scooby Snack system works. I now crawl numerous other forums. And although I'm not the greatest mechanically inclined WRX owner, I offer my 2 cents where I can and I try to start interesting threads (BAIC OT aside). Not to mention that I now post in the appropriate forums instead of just asking the BAIC community to answer all of my technical questions.
If I work hard and a friend of mine, like Rich, asks for some Scooby Snacks, I have no problem giving him some. It's a community after all. And I know he contributes to our community. If anything he's a little too overzealous at times.

I'm not trying to rock the boat I honestly don't see a problem. Alex, you're the Man and your word is God on here but seriously, has anyone really complained about this? Is there really a problem here?
Alex, in no way was I trying to bash on your ideas for the website or what you do here; if I sounded like that I apologize. If it weren't for you, this site would not exist, and therefore our Subaru community would most likely not be as big as it is now. I hope you know that like all the other members on here, I appreciate everything you've done for us. I just wish a few things changed, but I know that you must get tons of requests. Anyways, thanks for everything.
BTW: I PM'd you about the snack refund, hopefully we can figure something out with that issue.

SS are meant to reward people that contribute. I did it so that all the whining about the post count stop. It stopped. Now you are whining about something else.
I give snacks to people for their contribution. Like the guy who took MY05 STi pics i gave him some. I know it is nothing, but while some people do something usefull for all of community, some other people do nothing more but test other peoples' patience and dis their work.

Busihido deserves his avatar. I would have contributed snacks had I seen this post before the deed was done.
The problem with scooby snack are that, I for one, don't pay any attention to them and I think I'm quite typical in that. Not that I think they are bad idea. Much better than a simple post count.
But I think it's perfectly legitimate to ask for them if you want them. No one has to give and people will only give is a) they don't care much about scooby snacks in the first place or
b) they think the case is deserving.
Congrats to Rich on his avatar it is greatly deserved for all the hard work he has put in to scouting and organizing some fun drives here in the north bay. Not to mention the mixes he puts together for those drives.
So Alex, I know it's touchy issue but I think you are bit off base on this one.
Also, Alex, since I'm here and may have your attention, thanks very much for all your hard work in putting the I-Club together and keeping it running. It has given me a a lot of pleasure since I came across it back in 2002 and I'm glad it's still going strong.

I am not saying you guys don't contribute. Maybe it came out wrong. i-Club was able to get back on its feet after being stabbed in the back greatly because of BAIC. I am honored, touche and very thankful to all of you for that.
My main concern is that if you contribute and "stretch the rules" you will set an example for those who do not contribute. They also will stretch the rules and that is what I am afraid of. Then, rule enforcing will have to take place and sooner or later i-Club will become "just another overmoderated" site. I don't want that. If it comes to that, god forbid, I will just shut it down, as if we all cannot have fun playing "i-club", there is no point to it.
Hope you guys understand. And, once again, I am not telling you what to do. I am just asking as a fellow i-Clubber. Sure I run this place, but it is yours as much as it is mine.
Without me, i-Club and its members are nothing.
Without members, i-Club and I are nothing.
So if we cannot work on all of this together, it is not worth it for anyone.

Simple solution, change the "give snacks to another member" to require approval or something from a mod. That way the person donating the snacks can give you the reason they think the other person deserves snacks.
Either way, someone give me some.

alex,
mahalo for putting up this site. i am just a noob that is still trying to learn "the rules". quite frankly this is the first forum i have ever really been in. its something that i log into every single day. i am almost a geek because of it. sometimes i literally lose sleep because i am on i-club. honestly i can say that i don't always contribute in the tech forums but i try to make up for that in the shopping threads since that is my "forte" .
as a sidenote wingless wonder has been an awesome moderator(at least 2 me) offering nothing but professional advice.
aloha,
greg

gdogg, nice avatar. is your christianese in yoda speak? hehe... (I hope you know that that is not a jab)
Imprezar, props on the site. Though I was once a VWVortex regular, I have recommitted my post-whoring self to this site. I see both sides of the coin. On one side, you dont want people contributing in a meaningless fashion (+ 1 perfect example).... on the other, you want to build the i-club community as much as possible, and hopefully that is the ultimate goal.
tough position you are in, but we have your back either way
