Wheres a good Japanese restaurant in SF...
Ebisu on ninth and irving. Very fresh ingredients. Fast service. Specials on their whiteboard are worth looking at. On the not so strong side, seating is limited. I think they have a menu online FWIW.

the Okazuya joints on Taraval & Noriega are pretty good too....a little more 'authentic' Japanese fare but pricier too.
as the other guy mentioned, Ebisu is nice, but, IMO, they've fallen off a bit. I haven't been back there in a while because it's a little cramped and the long waits for tables+horrendous parking in the area don't really do it for me either.
Kabuto on Geary across from 7-11 has quality sushi but it's even smaller than Ebisu.
I don't eat Japanese food up here in the Bay much anymore....pretty often when I hit LA tho.
Tani's Kitchen, although not quite in SF, but in westlake village in daly city, 5min from stonestown...great little momma poppa shop, definitely not a big or fancy place...

My favorite place!
Tsunami on Fulton
I love this place. Great for dates. Its a good place to start the night on the town.
The sake sampler rocks.

shimo's on clement and 24th i think. its the heat. ebisu's overpriced! shimo's probably there and hooks it up with all sorts of good stuff. got some sea urchin there and it was still on top of the bar moving around. that's ****'n fresh!
