Where to live by santa cruz watsonville?

Incredibly discouraged trying to find a place. Rent is way high for total dirtbag places, I have seen nicer places for cheaper in san francisco. WTF??????????????????????????????????????????????? ???????????

As a long time Watsonville resident, I can say that this town now sucks ***!
That being said, rent is out of control out here, unless you want to live in the worst of the worst, it is actually cheaper to buy now, I guess since landlords are upside down on the rental properties, they have to charge up the culo. Rent has always been high out here, but the difference between owning and renting now favors the buyer. I pay out the ear to live in a one bedroom house in Pajaro, when a friend of mine just bought a house, in town, and pays 1500 a month for a 3 bedroom house. I'm looking to buy asap, before things go back up, just make sure you know your neighborhood, before you buy.
Edit: if I had the money, I would live in Aptos or Seascape, actually check Seascape, rents are pretty cheap out there, but it depends what you are looking for.

Dude this is exactly what i've been saying, but my family and friends think im full of **** and trying to justify a home purchase............Everything I've seen is just horrible, and its by no means a good price. I've been out there before a good amm. so it wasn't like the area bummed me out, I love santa cruz valley, but just the places sooked.

Like I said to others, I don't mind living in a piece of ****, I just REFUSE to pay out the *** to do it!!!!

SC paper/craigslist just ain't cutting it!

Could you recommend neighborhoods areas? for both renting and owning.

thanks for the advice, at least I don't feel crazy.

This town is full of bank owned homes! There are some deals! I've never had luck with the paper or craigslist, even the real estate papers. Don't get me wrong, I have been here for 30+ years, and I love it! I can't move out of SC county. If your looking in Watsonville, stick to the older streets, and thing off Martinelli, California area is nice. I'll talk to my friend that just bought, and pm you with the number for his realitor girl, he said she has all the leads, and hook ups! In the mean time just drive around if you're in town, because half the homes on any given street are either for sale or rent

yea thats be great, I love tree's and am looking for a single family home with a good yard, that is important for my 4 legged buddy, and it may be silly but I want to live in some great area of nature down there, otherwise jeez. Just seems like as your rental price being as much as a 500k house to purchase, you are living in a 250-300k place at best.

Well, there isa possibility of a double dip, meaning aggregate housing prices might slide a little more if stimulus does not do what it does/continues to do so. Either way, look for good deals on loans/mortgages coming out in the near future (as if they can get better at this point)

I would say your not going to find much, I lived in SC for over a year and a half. SC is turning into a dump just just about everywhere in the county. I commute from Pleasanton to SC and I am glad I moved. I would look in capitola if your serious about staying in the county or just move a little bit over the hill. My .02$

I'd skip on Scotts Valley, the cops there are bored.

I'd skip on Watsonville, unless you like living in a **** hole.

I'd skip on Santa Cruz, cause it's just too crowded and over priced.

When I was living down that way, I found really nice rentals in Aromas (if you can stand the country), and Aptos (cougars, galore).

Check out Classic Properties in Watsonville, talk to Lynette... she was a property manager of mine for my last rental and very chill (and kinda cute).

But, expect to pay $2,000~ for a rental.

ps. i'd REALLY suggest NOT living in Watsonville, that place is a tarp!

watsonville aint too bad as long as youre not looking at the ****ty neighborhood and aptos is definitely crawling with cougars like what blackonblack pointed out (i work there ) buying a home is starting to be a lot cheaper compared to renting unlike before but i would suggest you to go to property management places and ask for listings.then you can go and check them out if it fits youre needs.santa cruz property@41st ave was the place i used to go to when we were renting and they cover a good amount of area in santa cruz county so just stop by and pick up a list of rentals.

the only liveable area in santa cruz is the westside, as it doesnt have much traffic besides students and older people/families...eastside sc and the downtown area gets so crazy over summer that i tend not to leave my house during the day, just skate or bike if i need to go somewhere...

aptos is where i would choose to live...anywhere from 41st to like state park off highway one is nice, im out there for school almost daily
