I guess Hayward's too quiet for ya huh?

The Fairmont's a historical site. It'd be fun to stay there just to say that you did. Can't say much more than that since I don't really stay in San Francisco hotels haha.

Sure, I can be your tour guide but what kind of compensation package did you have in mind? If it's free meals and liquor, sign me up! I have a lot of friends/family that come into town so I know a lot of places and I hate to disappoint. Also, I'm not a lawyer but simply didn't want to start a flame war about what a tourist is supposed to do/see in SF. After you've lived in any big city for a while, it becomes a lot smaller than what you originally thought and it becomes boring. Maybe I party too hard and go all out so my expectations are just too damn high now...

Price no object, Fairmont would be my pick however it is not walking distance to anything but a church across the park in front of the hotel.

Palace hotel is comparable in terms of quality/amenities and it is more convenient that the Fairmont.

Le Meridien is similar to the W/Hilton/Marriott, etc.

Keep in mind that parking will not be free at any of these hotels and will probably be at least $30 a night.

stay at the Clift or Palomino if you're a purdy boy w/deep pocket$.

that's where most of the young+upwardly mobile cats stay in SF.

imo, you'd have more fun at The Clift or Palomino.

Fairmont is most def nice, but it's mostly for old fogeys.
if you want to do the whole SF romance+charm thing w/your hunny, the surroundings are much more tranquil and posh at the Fairmont tho.

btw, Union Square+Chinatown are just down the hill from the Fairmont, so it is conveniently situated. take the cable car or just hoof it.
