Where to get suspension installed? (Around Pleasanton)
I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good place around the Pleasanton area for installing suspension(struts/springs).
Also if you know how much they charge could you let me know that too. That would be a great help.

Well, I dunno about pleasanton....Vishnu, used to be in pleasanton, but I believe they moved into BOZZ in Union City.....
You could also, go to Gruppe-S in Hayward, or MPJ Performance also in Hayward, both are VERY good shops, they know their subys....and they are very reasonable for labor.

MPJ quoted me $130 for struts. dont know about springs. but when you go in for multiple installs around the same area (e.g. downpipe/uppipe), they usually knock some $ off labor. theyre pretty cool about that. and just good people too.
Gruppe-S is also very trustworthy and the service is excellent. i have not gotten a quote from them for a strut install.
Auto Innovations in Milpitas is another good shop to get suspension installed. they quoted me $100 for strut installation. the beauty of getting suspension installed here is that you get a top quality alignment right then and there, so theres no question your car is canyon ready once it leaves the shop. of course the alignment is $100 as usual. but i would go there anyway for alignment so either way you gotta add $100 for alignment.

On subarus the suspension is pretty straight forward and probably more economical to DIY. I was able to do it w/o any type of instructions 'cept for my friend who has only modded his MR2 and Integra suspension. Also if it's a coilover system it would be even easier as it's already built.
In total with the right tools I'd say a 2-3 hour job. The hardest part for me was breaking the torque on the 19mm bolts that held the brake to the shock considering I broke the socket trying to do so (good thing it was craftsman). Spray some WD-40 or liquid wrench on them the day before so it can work at the bolt and loosen them up a bit.
All I needed to do it was a wratchet, a breaker bar, 2 19 mm sockets, a 14 mm and a 12mm. If you're going to DIY you need to take out the back seats to get to the top of the rear shocks. shoot me a PM if you want more info.

Thanks for the replies, I really appriciate it.
I have never done suspension before, so I'm not going to attempt to do it myself. And since this my own car, I would feel much more comfortable having it professionally installed by somebody who has done it many times before.

hey dude, i need to put struts in my car as well, and have all the necessary tools. i just need to rent a spring compressor. ive looked over some instructions and it looks really really easy. i think we should tackle this in one shot. i help you, you help me. what do you say? it would save both of us a lot of time and money, and i *pretty much* know what im doing. if not, cool.
yeah stocks and struts is pretty easy. just read up on some of the tutorials people have put together and ask questions before the install. and looks like people around here are willling to help, so jsut buy them lunch and beer and see if they'll lend a hand. altho personally i do recommend air tools. it'll make your life a lot simpler.
