Where to get super duper 3M double stick tape?

They sell them in rolls.

Used by body shops.

Grey in color with red peal-off tape.

Used to stick on automotive moldings and emblems.

Same stuff used on "dash kits".

I need some badly and cannot find it anywhere.

Need it ASAP.

Welp!

have you tried hell... er i mean 'home' depot? i would think you'd be able to find that sort of thing in a hardware store. if they don't carry it, i'd just call a local body shop and ask them where they get theirs.

if you're near Union City(i think that's right), i'd hit Lowes -- i just suggested Hell Depot because it's the only thing close to me. the closest Lowes is 50 miles away. if they didn't have it, someone there might know where to get it. 99% of the people i've run into at HD wound up working there because they came in and couldn't find the damn exit...

actually i've been down this path.

lows.... home depot... all the ones i've found were low quality ones.

i think if you search the internet you can find 'body shop' quality ones.

what are you trying to do? tape an EVO on top of your legacy?

home depot and lowes only have 3M double sided "heavy duty" tape. Not very heavy duty since the box says it can only hold up to 2lbs. Try ordering some good stuff online.

I just picked up a roll of Scotch (3M) 'Exterior Mounting Tape' from Home Depot and it can hold up to 5 lbs. It is thinner than the general purpose tape and worked like a charm for affixing an 'AWD' badge to the trunk lid. I'm sure that the industrial stuff is even stronger but this is adequate for a little badge. Part number 4011.

i think alex wants the stuff they use for body kits and stuff that you peel off the red tape and just stick the piece on, right?

I knew this thread sounded familiar. Unfortunately, no one posted the name of a local shop where they actually found the right tape back then, either...

alex are you sure you're looking for the "super duper" spec tape? or is it the "super ultra mega" spec because there is a big difference. the super ultra mega is going to give you a much wider powerband whereas the super duper, or duper-spec for short, is going to be a lot more peaky at higher RPMs.

one good place to check would be www.tapplastics.com i know they have one type of 2-sided 3M tape that is totally see-through (translucent for all you college grads), but the actual tape itself is between 1 and 1.5mm thick.
