Hey i was wondering if anyone knew where you could get a "smog" for a cg8 with a jdm swap. One of my good friends wants to buy it but needs to get it smoged. If anyone knows any people or if you have any hook ups it would be awesome. =)

iirc you can't smog a jdm swapped car.

 

the easiest way to smog a jdm car.... this is illegal of course....... and no i havent done it...... is........

buy a salvage title US counterpart, use all the Vin numbers off the US car, swap it over to the JDM car.

Now like i said, ive never done this, ive only heard of it being done mainly on skylines, they would use the 240sx vins to register and pass smog.

I believe what he meant by putting smog in quotes was kind of implying if anyone knew anyone at a smog shop that would go "it has an engine, it passes" or "yeah, theres a lot of smog coming out, does that mean it passes?"

 

Speed Element has gotten a lot of swapped Hondas/Acuras smogged with no problem....

 

I've smogged my jdm swapped car, but it's not a gc8... If, for some reason the smogger doesn't know that the rs is n/a or if he doesn't know how to tell the difference between turbo'd and n/a, it can be done legitimately.

 

Actually not us, but Rob has smogged his own in the past.

 

we've done plenty of JDM conversion and every one of them has passed smog. There is nothing illegal with a JDM swap, AS LONG as you meet the guidelines for what is legal in a swap, such as must be same year motor or newer than car, keep all required smog/emission that came on the car, and wire it properly.

It's all on how its wired up!
