Where to get a full face race helmet for track? Any recommendations?

I need to go to an actual store that stock a whole bunch of these because of my ginormous head. Yeah, I have a hard time finding helmets that fit...hockey, bikes, etc....so I gotta try them on before hand to make sure they fit. Who has a large selection in the bay with reasonable prices.

Any recommendations for brand and model for reasonably priced helmet? SA 2005 is so expensive!

Right on, thanks for the tip, I didn't know they had a store there in Oakland. I'd imagine the Bell store would carry Pyrotect stuff. Saw the Pyrotect helmet, seems like a great deal...

what poorly designed website though (the little details, who uses Times for typeface?!?

A "great deal" is about the last thing to look for in a helmet.

sorry, forgot to post website link for IO Port:

http://www.ioportracing.com/

I've always bought my helmets from Ken at IO Port.

Don't think Bell has a website for their Oakland store.

In my experience with helmets(hockey, cycling), they provide all the same impact protection, except the more expensive ones offered more airflow, ligher weight, but in the end the savings in weight combined with the slightly better materials made about the same helmet in protection. Thanks for the tip, I will definitely check them out. Unless this doesn't hold true in auto helmets...

Go to Bell Motorsports in Oakland. They are the National Distributor so they have tons of helmets and are nice people. Also get a SA rated helmet. Different organizations have different requirements but if you get the SA you won't ever have to worry about that. I know they are more expensive but you don't want to have to buy another just because you went with a cheaper M rated one at first. If you want to save some money ask them if they have any blemished ones that fit you. Structure wise they are fine it is usually just some flaw in the paint that you can't even notice. I don't think you will be able to beat their prices. DON'T get a cheaper blemished one if it does not fit. Fit is way more important than price. Do it right the first time, it always saves you in the long run.

Thanks all for the great suggestions. I went to the Bell/Pyrotect store today. I picked up a full face pyrotect sa2005 helmet for $150. It normally sells for $248, it was cheap because of one small paint chip on the back of the helmet. The guy who helped me, Tim, was really nice and threw in a pair of Bell's driver sunglasses. Thanks all!

I wanted a black one, but $100 less for white one, I'll take it. And, luckily a XL fit my head well and they had one cheap...
