Hmmm, why would that coupon still scan into their systems if it was a counterfeit?
I think the only way to find out is to call the manufacturer and ask them, otherwise the guy's claim holds no light. Maybe he's saying it to get less people to try it because he doesn't want the manufacturer to stop the promotion?
There's no way you'd get charged for a felony offense over something like this, even if it was true, you'd get a misdemeanor at worst, unless of course you have a criminal record/prior offenses.
I just find it rather fishy... I can see that if the coupons didn't scan and give the correct discount at the register, but this coupon DOES scan which means that someone had to enter the coupon into the stores database, for every store that accepts it.

Oh, the whole reproduce thing... How on earth would they catch you unless you kept going to the same store?
I can see how they would prosicute if someone was abusing the hell out of this, but if you don't go to the same chain and do this, it's VEEEEEEEERY unlikely that you would get caught for this... I can see that maybe if a cop was in the know, and pulled you over and search your car and found probably evidence that you have been abusing the system, going back and getting the security video tape to prove that you did this, and to charge you for it, which is as likely as women taking over the world.
jk
From what I have been taught about law enforcement, and for the LEO's on the site, please feel free to prove me wrong, but this would be DAMN HARD to prove, and if they did, it would be a hassle to do so and it would have to be the perfect circumstances like I mentioned above... Or you would have to completely abuse the system to where you go to a person that recognizes you and could report you, but that's unlikely as well.
The maker of the drinks just want to scare you away from doing this because they are losing money on it... Wouldn't you do the same? I would.
I went to two stores and couldn't find the low carb monster, so I gave up because my wife and I really dont need all that sugar and the low carb ones taste pretty good still, and it's much better then taking down 12 teaspoons of sugar per drink but with the same caffiene high and less of a crash (you get a huge sugar crash for the normal ones). After going to two stores and not finding it, I gave up after giving it more thought and not wanting to depend on these drinks again like I did in the past. (At one point I was drinking about 5 a week, and after reading how bad they are for you, I promptly quit, well, that and the financial strain it put on my weekly budget).
To energy drinks, I say good riddance!
But thank you soundwave (Dilbert) for helping us out both by providing the coupon, and warning us of potential harm that abuse might do to someone who abuses the system.
I say bring the thread back and list a disclaimer that abusing the coupon could result as internet counterfeit and land you in the pen, that way your *** is covered and you did warn people, if they choose go abuse it, that's their problem.

I normally just ignore these, since they are ususally fraudulent, but this one looked somewhat legit and since it scanned in, I thought its good.
Oh well, best to just leave it alone. Karma can be a *****.

It wasn't that it was a fake, it was probably only supposed to be circulated in newspapers and whatnot, not mass reproduced via your home printer. Hence why it said not to reproduce it on the bottom.
Easy to fake w/ Photoshop.
They usually give these out to unsatisfied customers. Some goober probably scanned it and a bunch of goobers printed it out. Then they totally abused it and ruined it for everyone else.
