Where is the closest snow? to play in... not ride.
I wanna take little boy to play in the snow. We got him a little snow outfit for xmas, and my wife and I finally have a day off together tomorrow, so we want to take him to the snow.
I live in pinole. I was thinking of taking the 80 toward boreal, and just find a parking lot or something that has a snowy area for him.
Can anyone point me in a direction that hopefully won't take more than an hour to get to...
Thanks in advance, it will be his first time in the snow.

If your going down 80, theres a pretty tight spot if you get off at the Cisco Grove exit. Theres always families out there and theres a few hills and plenty of snow for kids to play around in. I drive to boreal 3 times a week and thats the best spot I could think of.
im planning on rolling to one of my fav spots.every year i get some good sledding in and very very nice donuts in the huge frozen parking lot that no one enters because its on a slant and cant get out.
heres a link to some pics of the guys i wheel with in that same spot

I'm just lookin for a empty playground or parking lot for ryley to run around in. He will pry not last more than 10-15 mins in the snow, that's why I wanna keep driving to a minimum
Anyone know any closer spots short of driving to boreal

yo and mornin
ther are several "snow parks" along the way up to Boreal. Put they are 2-2.5 hours from you no matter what way you go.
I would plan a day trip for this sort of thing. kinda like going to the beach. unfort, the snow level was very high this weekend and all that rain was, well, rain. we are suppose to get dumped on starting tnight, and thru thursday.
but not alot other than that at this time....

I kind of like the drive down HWY4 it's closer, at least it takes me less time to go there and come back - but still more than an hour away...
I do both, 80 and 4 several times every year.
