Where can I get an OEM oil filter around S. Bay or Peninsula or online?

Looking to change my oil this weekend and also stock up on oil filters if I can get them online. Other than a dealer, is there any other place that sells the stock Subaru oil filter at a decent price? I know that we can get it from Marin Subaru parts counter since one of the guys frequents this board but it doesn't make sense to spend $4 on a toll to save $2 on a filter. Thanks in advance!

Fremont has a coupon online for buy 5 get 1 free. If that helps.

just order them from one of the subaru sites....like subarugenuineparts.com. Pretty sure they have them. Or just go to a dealership and buy a few.

DO NOT forget to also buy crush washers.

I get mine from subarugenuineparts.com in a six pack with crush washers. Not a bad deal. Ends up about $6.50 each filter and $.67 each crush ring.

Nothing wrong with Purolator, but OEM filters are currently made by Toyo Roki in Japan. Subaru has been using them since I got my car... (Minus the brief mishap with the white filters around Fall 2005).

The filters you can buy off the shelf are actually different than the OEM units.

The Purolator that was supplied as OEM and the same off the shelf filter were different inside. The valve inside was slightly different. Don't know if it would make a difference, but it's true.

For what it might be worth.

The black Suby filters are made by Tokyo Roki. Toyo Roki is a different brand (they make a lot of Honda OEM filters).

That's what I do, especially when they have their 99 cent deals. Stock up like crazy on those.

Also, thanks for the info Unit 91.

Really? I originally thought it was Tokyo Roki, but someone corrected me to Toyo Roki.

I always forget to look at the filter...
