Really damn. I've never stopped at that one too. I go up woodside all the time but always get 76 across from stacks in redwood city. I drove all the way to san jose to get some last month.

 

Yes, really. Woodside Rd x Kentfield. $4.29 / gal for 100 octane unleaded, straight from the pump.

 

If you were to fill up with 100, how long before your ECU would adjust to
the new gas? Or would it be a good idea to reset it right after you filled up.
Something like pull the negative off the battery and let it forget?

well it would pretty fast and it would add timing. But do not forget it is not like a self tune. It has parameters to go by. So it would adjust up to a point. Now if you got it tuned for 100 octane it would be different story. Ideally have some engine management and a second map for 100 octane. then if you cannot find 100 octane you are not going to blow your engine.

no 100 unleaded, not 100LL, you can get that at any little airport and eat your cats and o2 sensors.

 

Out of curiosity, why do you want to run 100 octane? Are you getting detonation or something?

 

I don't get detonation bad, but I live in knock retard hell. I use a gallon or two once in a while to get me out of knock retard(lately I've just been using a half bottle of torco with each fillup to keep it happy). 1 gallon of 100 octane does a lot more good than one of the little $3 bottles of "octane" booster. One gallon helps me a lot. The most I've ever done was 4 gallons and ran a 93 octane map for a little while, it was sooooo smooth while I was running it, but the cost to performance advantage isn't there. I plan on having 2 maps done on my street tuner(maybe even 3). one for every day 91 where I plan on putting at least a gallon of 87 in to act like a bad tank of 91, so wherever I go I don't have to fear the gas. Then either a 95 octane(half 91 half 100) or pure 100 octane map for those times when I feel real ornery.

 

That's what my question is. Assuming your car is all stock, will you get any benefit from running 100?
Will it do bad things? It sounds like to get the real benefits, you have to get some tuneing, but what
happens without a tune (or 100 map)?

 

Yes, I drive 99 down to Fresno often, more often recently - and my car runs much better in the heat if I can put in at least 5 gals of 100 and then top the rest off with 91 (approx 94 in the tank). Car is much smoother when I do this.


Any 100 along 99 south other than hwy 4 in Stockton.

BTW the 100 in Stockton is at the pump on HWY 4 immediately West of town. I think I paid 4.30 a gallon.
