When did Arena Football return?
I thought Arena Football was gone? But there's a game on TV now (although I don't think live) and the website is back up. Unfortunately no San Jose Sabercats though
Season appears to be in week 4, is this the first season its back?

Wow... And they are playing at the Cow Palace... Do they really expect the AFL to take hold and actually become a viable sport? To me Area Football always seemed more like a joke.

Arena Football IS a joke. You cant get anywhere in the NFL so you get paid $40k a year to play backyard football with pads on?
Kurt Warner
Arena Football
After completing his college career, Warner was not drafted by an NFL team. He received an invitation to try out for the Green Bay Packers' training camp in 1994, but was released before the regular season began; Warner was competing for a spot against Brett Favre, Mark Brunell and former Heisman Trophy winner Ty Detmer. While Kurt was with the Green Bay Packers, the head coach was Mike Holmgren and the quarterbacks coach was Steve Mariucci[10], the San Francisco 49ers head coach in 1999. After Warner was released, Mariucci had told him that he knew Warner had enormous potential but was not ready to be an NFL quarterback yet.
It was at this time that Warner famously stocked shelves at a Hy-Vee grocery store in Cedar Falls for $5.50 an hour.[11] He also returned to Northern Iowa and worked as a graduate assistant coach with the football team, all the while still hoping to get another tryout with an NFL team. With no NFL teams willing to give him a chance, Warner turned to the Arena Football League in 1995 and signed with the Iowa Barnstormers. Warner was named to the AFL's First-team All-Arena in both 1996 and 1997 after he led the Barnstormers to Arena Bowl appearances in both seasons. Warner's performance during his (relatively short) stay in the AFL was so impressive that, years later, he would be named twelfth on a list of the twenty best Arena Football players of all time.[12]
Before the 1997 Arena season, Warner requested and got a tryout with the Chicago Bears, but an injury to his throwing elbow caused by a spider bite sustained during his honeymoon prevented him from attending.[13]
Yup, definitely can't get anywhere being an Arena Football Player.

It may not be the NFL, but it sure is football in the off season! The Wolves aren't listed on the main AFL site for some reason, but thats still cool that there is one near by. When the Sabercats were around it was like $30 for sidelinne midfield seats

Nonstop action, small fields, players that play offense and defense....yep, sounds lame to me!!
Those guys do more to earn their "40k a year" than any NFL player does in a season, and I bet they have more fun doing it too.

Yeah, the Sabercats are now the Wolves. They're going to move back down to SJ from the Cow Palace after this season. A friend of mine is on their cheerleading, erm, dance squad, so I find out more about arena football than I ever care to know

It's called the AIFL right now and it's in the second season the have many teams in the country right now. The starting pay is a about 80k a year and now NFL scouts are really starting to look at these players big time. Lots of really good players that did not make the draft are playing right now. I know so much because I was going to play for the team.... But I have a knee surgery this Sepetember
