Good thread because I'd like to know too... Comcast is just charging way too much for me to be able to justify it anymore, especially with the holidays coming up (read: lack of money )

I have sonic.net

http://sonic.net/

local bay area ISP from Santa Rosa... plans are $5 cheaper than respective ATT plans (they use ATT lines) and also offer free newsgroups (I use to download movies/music hahah)

YES Comcast at those speeds that I posted for $19!!!

I got mine for a year, it looks like its only for 6months now, but you can usually just renew it for another 6 months at the same price.

Look in the right, you should see the $19 offer.

FIOS would be the fastest but they cost at least ~$50
"This special price is for customers who currently subscribe to Comcast Cable or Comcast Digital VoiceŽ service."

What the heck?
I started on Comcast early this year. Previously I was on DSL with Speakeasy (third party ISP, good service, reasonably cheap static IP, but expensive for DSL and I didn't need the static IP anymore)

I had more dropouts, server disconnects, outages and issues in the first 6 months with Comcast than I had in 6 years with Speakeasy. The connection reliability was terrible.

Gaming went from very solid reliability to praying to Gladys, goddess of internet connections, before any serious gaming in hopes that she would hear my pleas for a consistent connection. I think Comcast filters Gladys' IP though, because the prayers haven't had much effect. (yeah, it's not really THAT bad, but humor is good. It is still very significantly worse than Speakeasy though.)

I'm glad you have no issues with Comcast, but I'm going to be giving U-verse a try soon to see if they're a 'kiddie' provider too. Unfortunately all the big providers think that customers measure fast and reliable by only up / down speeds.

It's lame because when I'm sitting there looking at a screen that says "Disconnected from Server", then glance over at the modem lights blinking while re-training... I'm pretty sure my up / down speeds are zero right then, and all the up / down in the world doesn't make up five minutes of zero time when you come home from a long day at work and just need to blow off some steam in-game... or spent 20 minutes finding a group in an MMORPG only to get disco-ed and come back to find they've booted you.
