This is also the same person who recommended Falkens (forgot the model, 512 ZIEX or something) which were hands-down the worst tires I have ever purchased in my history of owning 30+ cars. Food for thought.

On tirerack, I see them for $83/tire for a 225/50/16, and I got my PZero Neros for $100 (They're actually $97/tire on vulcantire right now). I really don't understand how it's such a GREAT tire for the price, but to each his own. I'm willing to spend an extra $17/tire, however, maybe the extra $68 you save is worth it, however, no way am I ever going to buy those for my car.
I recommended ZIEX 512s for the best tire that comes with a mileage warranty. Have you not noticed how many times I've said this? How many other V-rated tires come with a 30,000 mile warranty? Seriously, mileage warranties mean harder tires which means less traction. How do you not understand this yet?
If you haven't noticed in MANY of the recent tire posts, I've recommended the PZero Nero as probably the best tire I've driven on for a daily driver.

Toyo Proxes 4, 10k miles and still low noise with great handling dry and wet.
Had Kumho Ecsta Supra 712s previously... horribly loud and didn't wear well. Blizzak REVO1s (no one here needs those) were fantastic for NY winter.

Probably one of the scariest things I've ever felt driving a car.

Pushed them to the limit? I have pretty much fried them. I will see if I can find a pic. In 225/45-17 on my WRX and 205/60-14 on my Celica. The Celica is a pretty light car - under 2500 without driver and they were seriously over-inflated by the time I would get done with a track day. In 3 seriously beaten sets of ES-100's I have never experienced anything even close to what you mention. On track they are a great street tire that gives you aural feedback (screech), warms nicely and is very predictable.
I don't remember paying $83 a tire for them, thought they were more like $68 each when I got them. A friend just got a set on his Civic Si and he said they were around $70 each - this is for 225/45-17. Either way, you should DEFINITELY not buy something you don't want or don't believe in for whatever reason.
One of the last times this silly 'argument' came up, you recommended the 512's to me as something to get instead of the ES100's. I don't remember the mileage warranty thing but then - I don't and never did care about a mileage warranty on a tire I use on a racetrack. I remember one of the first arguments you had against the ES100 was that it didn't last very long or something - but again, that is not for me. I was looking for a cheap street tire that could also work on the track. Why - in this context - would anyone with any tire knowledge suggest a harder tire in this case simply because of a mileage warranty????? That's nutty. Maybe I missed that when I picked up the Falkens. I was moving to Hawaii and the roads are a little worse there, plus the rain is downright scary - so this is why I picked up the 512's. No more track days, just need a good tire. They were so scary down to the day I sold that car.. Like driving on grease after the ES100's. Horrible and dangerous tire on a car with really good brakes and no ABS.
No, I haven't noticed many of the recent tire posts. I have zero experience with the p-zero however have a few freinds who rave about them. I would probably shy away from your specific advice anyway though after the ES-100's crap and then the 512's. So far you speak so strongly about something I know first hand to not be true in my own personal experience. This is not a good start for a place to look for advice.
The long and short of it is, I will not (and don't want to) convince you to go out and buy a set of AVS-ES100's and you will not convince me that what I have seen first hand with 3 sets of tires didn't happen. What is the point of this? I feel you are so far off with this AVS-ES100 stuff that there is zero point in continuing this. What's your stand?
Found a pic. I snapped pics of each tire after coming off the track on this day. Wish I would have done this with the Celica. The back tires on my WRX got taxed the most - at least at Sears Point. For some reason that car was rather tail-happy on stock struts and Eibachs. If you want more pics pm me, this is the right rear tire after 3 sessions at Sears.
Also found a pretty bad on-track pic. Look at those sidewalls!!!!! Oh the humanity! Can't find any of the Celica yet.
Found some more pics, though they are not that great. Just was too busy on this day to snap too many pics.
The first one is a crop of my right front tire on the Celica at Thunderhill. This is a 205/60-14 AVS-ES100. I think this was before I got on the track though because as you can see the tread is pretty squared off. However, I had been street driving on these tires for a month or so at this point. My only complaint was they were too sticky on the street and took the tailsliding fun away...
The next one is another bad one, but this is the same tire on the way home. Sure it's not a great pic, but you can still see the general shape of the tire. I took the pic - was in the passenger seat because I was too tired to drive home. This was because I had 5 20 minute sessions of beating the living shat out of that car. My friend had his trailer there and I expected to be going home on it. This was my last track day before moving, and I was gonna blow it all out. The car did fine (only lost a PS pump that I didn't want anyway). The tires were awesome. I went through a tank and a half of gas in this thing and as I said 5 really hard 20 minute sessions. My friend took video of this day but "lost" the tape which makes me really sad because there was a couple laps of him trying to catch me with his LS6 powered trans am. I only have 1 teeny clip of him behind me coming out of turn 8 and going through turn 9. He sent me the clip because he thought it was funny that A) he couldn't catch me in the Celica and B) he caught air coming off of 9 because he was going so fast.

The thing about the 'folding' implies it happened when you were driving, but honestly if something like that did happen - there is no way you as the driver would be able to detect that your sidewall had just folded over or whatever. It would be more like "whoa WTF wazzat!!"

I've filled the stock RE92s to over 62 PSI for an auto-x so they wouldn't fold over. Since they don't fold over at that pressure, does that mean they won't fold over when they're not overinflated?

Once again, I apologize for a bad recommendation for your circumstances, but you need to see in what context it's in. Also, I would NOT recommend buying blindly just because one person recommended the tire. I'm sure you know to research, etc so I won't bother going more into that.

If you understand that there's no point to drag this out any longer, why do you still post about it and bring it back?
I would bet your next paycheck that your "wheel hopping" had to do with tire inflation, the road surface and cornering forces. I 100% do not believe that your sidewalls folded and then unfolded to create that situation.
I did get your PM about the tires and we talked a bit about it. No worries - I am not mad, the car is sold. Either way it is ultimately up to me to make the decision so I cannot be mad at you for it. I was bringing it up because it clarifies your credibility when making brash knowledge-free tire recommendations to people without considering what they are using the tires for etc. That and your continued unfounded hate for the ES100 that you feel the need to push on everyone that even mentions them. Remember, it's OK for other people to like them even if you don't.

The ignore feature is (IMHO) for people who have no content to offer and who like to stir shat as you have done here. I will unsub this thread and put you on this list as a courtesy to the rest of i-club and the viewers of this thread.
Cheers and good luck with your future ventures.

Currently on Falken RT-615
wombat, I'm not going to get into the argument, but I ran ES100's once, no real complaints, I thought they were decent tires. Then I switched to Falken 451's which were the same price, but I had heard good things about them. They were superior in every way to the ES100 for the same money. The newer 452 is supposed to be even better and I would have gone that way if I hadn't wanted to really see what a sticky tire was in the RT-615.
The Falken 512 isn't a tire I would ever put on my car though.

This is also the same person who recommended Falkens (forgot the model, 512 ZIEX or something) which were hands-down the worst tires I have ever purchased in my history of owning 30+ cars. Food for thought.

Think about it, I gave my comment on a tire you have a comment on a tire and me. Sorry, but it's you who started this this crap on this thread.
Oh yeah, the tire hopping freaked me out that i pulled over immediately afterwards to check if it really was tire pressure. Nope, they were at 35 like always. Had to drive past the same part of road to get out, of course, going much slower, no problems. And cornering forces... which means... I pushed them too hard causing them to do what they did?

I was thinking about picking up a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Pole Position, where in the southbay would be a good place to get them or should i get them on tirerack and then find some where to mount them on for me?

Stock/Winter wheels have P-Zero Nero M+S, 18s had Pzero Nero(regular not m+s), currently have Kumho Ecsta SPT, next tire will probably be going back to the Neros or maybe eagle F1s.
