Your car is an air pump, it needs to suck air to live. The only reason it ever goes positive is the turbo.

I had an exhaust leak. Was idling in the negative. Blew out a gasket. Took it apart. Put it back together. Was still idling in negative but hits full boost under WOT. I thought I was going to have to tear everything out again (when I get my car back from bodyshop) even though it sounds and feels fine. So negative idle is okay.... phew.
