Sigh :-(

If it wasn't for that damn rust this thing would still be a great, strong car.

Don't fix it. There is a market out there for the car. Sell it.

Buy a new beater, a 4 banger that gets good mileage.

But yeah, I wish... But I'm not one to buy new cars. This one has been in the family for over 10 years.
But it sounds like it has no sentimental value in your family. May be except you. Don't fix it. It sounds like it will be a hole in a money bucket.

What can I get for it? It leaks coolant. Not sure what I can get for it. Maybe $500? man, this blows.

I know

I like it cause it was running, it was cheap to insure and drive. Got 24mpg average and was roomy...

I don't want to buy a car, lol. But I guess it might be time.

That does blow... what if you donate it? If you crush it you'll probably get no more than $500 unless you know folks at a recycling place. I got $500 for my truck and it had less than 80k on it and a nearly brand new tranny in it.

The problem is that once things like this start to happen they tend to pile up. My wife's VW is starting to do that and we're burried in it. Sucks.

Damn, I sold my RS for $2,500 with hella aftermarket parts on it... You could have had another RS if MDA didn't jump on it (I would have only sold it to certain people, you being one of them)

Imagine having another RS for commuting?

BTW, the ford taurus is the worst damn car ever. We had one in the early 90's and it was nothing but a money pit... Broke down all the time and had nothing but problems, and apparently this wasn't isolated to just us, everyone we talked to that had the same car had major issues with their cars... The only model that didn't suck as much was the SHO version, mainly because it didn't have a ford engine (I want to say that it had a yamaha motor, but dont quote me on that)).

Donate it or sell it as is and be done with it... Don't waste your money by repairing that POS/

+1 for donating. That way you don't have to worry about it blowing up. Hurry do it before 12/31

Oh man, Would I... Taurus's from this era have suspensions similar to civics... They are huge, but they don't handle too bad, esp if you left foot brake.

If I make it home on time, I'll talk to my family about it. I was ready to donate it when it over heated with the 2nd hole a few months ago... but it was now running... I just wish I didn't blow the money on front rotors and pads.

I'd love to pick up a honda civic or something.

But I'm thinking a Legacy/Impreza wagon would also be great. I've seen some late 90s ones that are 100kish miles for about $3-5k.

I just want something I can commute in, is decently safe, and will last me several years.

^ well nothing rekindles the weird appreciation for civics and fwd cars like spending 24 hours trying your best to demolish one on a road course.
