I hope you didn't pay too much for it, they're not really able to do much unless you plan on rendering with older software. Everything is dropping powerPC support and going Intel. It won't even run the latest Mac OS.

i paid nothing for it... i'm thinking about just hooking it up to my tv for media. Any ideas on how to get this thing working? I have a 500gb HD sitting around... a imac running leopard and access to a g4 powerbook.... if that helps any.

I had a G5 power mac at one point. Boy did that thing age quickly.

It's a sweet case -- does it have standoffs for an ATX motherboard? I would probably scrap the internals and modify the case for a modern PC build. You could definitely get it back in action for under $100, but it would hardly be a useful tool after sinking that 100.

i still use my G4 iMac as a garage computer... a G5 Mac should be great for the same.

If it's missing the HDD, a restore disk isn't going to do much since there's nothing to restore. Just pop in a new HDD and load up an OS of your choice. Should be fine as a HTPC, but I'd want to put in the biggest HDD I can find.

I have a 250G SATA drive and an OS X Leopard DVD you can have if you want. If it's still got an optical drive in it that ought to get you going.
