There are a couple of things that can cause it. Excessive cylinder pressure, head studs not being torqued properly, etc.

What coilovers did you get and how do you like them after that nice drive?

FINALLY after all theses years I came up on a wreaked 04-05 STi at a junk yard willing to part with its headlight leveling connectors with extra wire and the 6 position switch

The 04-05 STi has the same connectors and switch that our bugeyes had so its a mater of getting the connectors and running some wire.

I happen to have a busted leveling motor (of course :/ ) in one of my headlights so everything did not go so smoothly.

LUCKY FOR ME! when I was cutting the clips off the wreaked STi headlights I ended up taking what was left of one of the headlights which had been smashed in a accident cause i couldn't unclip it (clips are a PITA) and used the leveling motor off it to repair mine.

so yea I had a night of excitement mixed with bad luck and good fate which made it all that more rewarding to hear the sweet sound of those motors.

The drive was nice and clunky.... lol jk. Car handled great, felt like a coilover. It was a rough ride but not as bad as i had anticipated. Noticed the clunking during small bumps while going at slow speeds, but was notified of that particular trend when replacing stock struts/springs. Shop confirmed the coilovers were good and did not leak, retorqued everything and clunking wasnt as bad. Only thing i noticed significantly were my brakes. Brake fade affected the whole experience and after the spirited run i noticed a horrible screeching and humming noise while in motion at slow speeds but disappears when brakes are applied. Assuming i ruined my rotors or pads or both at this moment. Also wondering if anyone in this forum can assist me on adjusting my rear coilovers, would like to raise it a bit.

BTW i acquired a set of intrax prodrive coilovers, from one of our old school members.
