Well that was fun!
11.8 @ 122mph with ZERO traction. As the track got colder, the car was wanting to spin through 4th gear! I guess its not bad for not having been to the strip in about 6 years and never having run faster than a 14 before .

Also, big congrats to Dallas for putting together a great run and hitting 12.6 @ 108mph in his stage 2 STI!

I think next time we'll try Sac raceway and see how it compares.

Thanks

Hahah... no not my car. I don't think I could push it across the line in under 12 seconds

This is a customer car with an ATP35R running 2200cc injectors and an AEM standalone . We're just getting the tune dialed in right now. Its at about 25psi making about 450-460whp for now. I know the car could do MUCH better as it sits, but I'm not complaining for my first time out in so long. I always forget how difficult it is to put together a solid run. And when you're spinning tires in 4th gear, lack of power is not the problem!

We're going to be pushing boost up closer to 29-30psi and hopefully crack the 500whp mark. Then we're really going to need to find some additional traction though.

ok well at the risk of sounding like a complete dick here since I own a evo.. Im gonna ask anyways just cause I would like to know why the drastic difference.

Why would the car break loose in 4th gear at such low power? Alignment issue, or horrible tires?

i would probably say it's a combination of things like track conditions, tires, and amount of power car has.

Although the car isnt slow or anything and is making good power, I wouldnt think that its at a level where traction should be any sort of issue in 4th gear. Granted my experience is with evo's so it could be just the difference in the platforms but my car makes at least what this car does and has no traction issues in anything but first gear. Thats also on all season tires with a car that weighs 2900lbs. Shoot I doubt I could spin through third in the rain.

That's pretty much it. I think with the cooler temps the tires started getting way too hard and the track got got more as well. Combined with about 430ft-lbs and an alignment set up for a road course, the car just didn't want to hook up. Maybe I should have tried hitting the water and warming the tires a bit, but its not my car and I wasn't trying to snap any axles .

I did manage a 1.73 60', but the thing just lit up the tires as soon as I hit 2nd and kept them spinning into 3rd, so I ended up letting off and cruising through with a 14.0 @ 70mph . I know this car isn't normally quite as loose as it was at the strip, but its definitely a real handful anywhere else as well. We'll be checking on the alignment and hopefully getting some better tires on it soon.

Thanks

The drag strip seems to have significantly less traction under poor track conditions than regular roads. Also, remember that EVOs with similar turbos and power levels are generally making significantly less torque and have significantly more lag. This car has zero lag between gears and hits hard every time. 450-460whp and 430ft-lbs is no joke
