Be careful looking at the 95 M3 as I heard they had some problems 1 year out.

95 did have probs with being easily over-revved, but I'm not sure if that was a warranty issue or a true recall.

But yes, 95 & maybe 96 also, were OBDI cars, so yes, easier to conceal mods.

Great cars, get a 4 door if you can!

its the 96+ 3.2L models, they have a little bit more torque, but the same amount of HP. The reason to go with the 95 3.0L OBD1 model is because its a lot better for tuning and is a LOT more mod friendly.

Exclamation

Also, I think we only got the four door M3 for two years. IIRC, it was 1997 and 1998.

There was an article in European Car magazine about 3 or so months back that you should check out if you haven't already. It featured an E36 buyers guide. The article was pretty good because it mentioned what to look for and avoid in certain model years.

I almost bought an E36 M3 before I bought my WRX. I bought the WRX instead because I needed a 4-door and the 4-door M3's I found were mostly automatics.

yes, sadly there was only a couple years of 4-door M3s, and even more unfortunately, they were indeed mostly autos!

I love the 4dr because I love 4-door sedans, and because it was dimensionally almost exactly the same as the 2dr coupe, plus it had rear windows which rolled down!
