Weird Gas Price Observation...
91 octane gas has always been at least $0.20/gal more than regular gas. However, since a month or so ago, I've noticed a couple of 76 stations selling premium for only $0.16/gal more than regular. Has anyone noticed the same thing around your area?
My guess is that it's due to the economy. When all the people decide that their cars don't need premium when they are not spec'd that way.

There Is nothing wrong with 76, I actually prefer 76 Gas but I live close to a Arco/ AM PM/ BP ( all the same company lol ) and I just fill up there. I'll never pay for Shell gas so... I don't really have any other stations.

yea i have heard horrow stories from some of my buddies with supercharged trucks. i always stick with eiter chevron or shell 91. But on the topic, yea i have noticed the price difference as well, idk about it though, i just pump the gas and don't think about it. I will still drive the same and use the same amount of gas, so i don't look at prices any more.

I remember when it all went in 10 cent increments. Since the prices have govered over $2, I have seen the difference increase to $.15 or $.20, so nothing out of the ordinary. I think of it on a percentage basis.
As for the type, I only buy Shell now. 76 is OK (not many around me). I know the techron crap in Chevron has hurt a few people's engines. I will not be mean to my engine and use Arco or other discount gas stations.

Haha major thread cap by a few... anyway...
I just use 76 because this is what some tuners recommended. I have had no bad experience with it nor with Chevron/Shell. I guess it doesn't matter as long as you fill up with 91 octane and your car is in good condition (non-worn-out spark plugs, non-screwed-up tuning etc).
However, I am a believer in Top Tier gas though. I am not saying that the non-top-tier brands do not meet the qualifications. It's just that the qualified brands are not much more expensive. I would rather get Top Tier than trying to argue against it etc. Meaning 76/Chevron/Shell.

interesting...i've used 76 on a bunch of my cars, N/A and FI--never had any problems.
i got my car tuned at GST twice now, they've never said anything wrong with my car, and I've gotten what I consider to be good results (power wise) with it. also never had any driving problems either...
Works for me!

back on topic, from what i've heard, the gas stations make more profit on the "hi-po" stuff (LOL) per gallon, so they "might" be more willing to discount it. However, usual trend in my area is to just discount the "87" gas price just to bring the cars in. Then the 89 and 91 are 10cents apart...e.g. 87/89/81 is like $2.09/$2.21/$2.31 instead of a 10cent difference between all tiers...

I was once bought a pack of marlboro lights at a cheap gas station, it was some chinese knock off crap or something, tasted horrible, never going to cheap gas stations again.
