weird battery problem

my car has done something odd (battery related)

if i turn my car on and go on a short drive like gas, groceries, etc and park, do what i need to do and get back into my car, chances are its not going to start. i have a battery jumper so i connect it and fires up like normal. Now if i park for the night, the next morning the car starts right up, like normal!

i don't have an aftermarket stereo, only thing that i have done which required some kind of electrical work is my hella horns and Nardi wheel. the issue started happening waaay after the install so i don't thinks its related. Any ideas?

Note: i have not tested my battery, or took voltage readings. also its my OEM battery when i purchased my car in 2008, chances are i need a new one lol i just figured i'd check with the all knowing iclub first

When it doesn't start, is it a dead click or does slow turn over that won're fire?

Are your hellas installed with a relay? Could be parasitic drain and in turn only allowing the battery to charge very slowly. Plus its old.
Go get a duralast gold top from autozone. Those are the best batteries ive ever got for the price. I did my 06 a couple years ago so sounds about time.

1)drive over to sears
2)buy a Sears Diehard Platinum
3)have them install it
4)Drive for the next 8 years knowing you have a odyssey battery with sears 4 year no questions asked replacement, and 4 years prorated (note* I heard they have changed it to 3 and 3 now)

Yep, or just get an optima red top as another option, 3 year no questions asked.

This. My 6disc changer stopped working at 45k miles (35k miles ago) and is constantly making a shuffle sound when I turn the key and stops like 10 sec. Later. I just keep it because of the aux input. It makes sense now.... Battery getting old us drain from the deck will most likely cause this.... Good info.

But why does my car still start afyer it's been sitting for 5-6+hrs bit not when sitting for 20min?

Well I would get that fixed it lead to a mystery problem of our outback dying every couple days.

If you car is suddenly working then not that may be different. Maybe your battery is just tired or your alternator could be screwed.

I personally would recommend against red tops. They just are not the battery they once were, and I have 4 of them dead in the garage that they would not replace to prove it.

I won't ever put another optima battery in any car I own.

I agree they're not what they used to be. But I haven't had an issue getting a replacement. Plus I got it for half the cost too so.
