WARNING: Reliable Powder Coating in San Leandro
"Reliable Powder Coating" in San Leandro. (Shop name...)
I am going to describe my dealings with this place so you all can be aware of this very-poor facility in San Leandro. STAY AWAY from this place...
It all started in MAY, when a friend of mine offered to get my wheels powder-coated for me. He said he had the "hook-up" because he used to be very-heavy into the low-rider scene and had used this shop for a decade. He stated they were great and it would be a helluva deal. (Mind you, I've used the shop's "hook up" in the past on my snow wheels and they were FREE and came out great..."
So we drop the wheels off. In MAY. JUNE rolls around and there is no word from the shop so my buddy calls. Apparently they don't have the color I want and they need to order it. Apparently they only use Dupont powder and I picked a color from another manufacturer. Okay, no biggy. I pick a Dupont color and we assume the order is placed.
JULY rolls around and we call to check on the status. The color was never ordered and the shop's media blasting unit has broken down. Apparently this means the wheels need to be sent out to be stripped at $30 each. Okay, I pay, they are stripped, and powder is finally ordered.
AUGUST rolls around and we call on the status. Apparently I owe the shop $250 for the powder. They apparently bought alot of *ukcing
powder.
At this, I tell my friend I'll pay when the wheels are done. Fine WTF ever.
In the last week of AUGUST I get the wheels back. 3 look great. The 4th looks like it has braille on it. It is sent back for a redo. Apparently the guys at this shop are blind and didn't see the 400lbs of crap in the powder coat.
SEPTEMBER rolls around and we call on a status of the last wheel. Apparently they soaked it in chemicals to get the powder coating off??? I'm like, "what happened to media blasting?" Anyway yeah. Okay Whatever. Just get it done!
It arrived today. It looks like **** and is a shade darker than all the rest of the wheels. My temporary tires I've been driving on are on the steel-belts and I am out of money to redo this fiasco. I called my buddy and told him his friends at that shop can suck it and I refuse to pay. "I'll see you in court and you'll all likely get deported if you show up in a courtroom anyway."
This shop is terrible. STAY AWAY.
And yes, these are my precious Advan RS's these **sholes screwed up. I'll have them redone in 25K miles when these tires are toasted. <sigh> And yes, I'm an idiot for letting it go this far to save a buck.

Not sure. I won't be in the market for about 30,000 miles unless I track these tires.
My rims were perfect except some rock chips in the gold paint. Now they look like my first model car paint job I did when I was 6.
