warning... chp task force checking baffles in:
Was just stopped in vacaville by chp motor. Was told they are running a task force on exhaust systems. He just checked for a baffle and warned me about I might get stop again.

oh crap! i think i saw a dsm get pulled over by CHP for that inspection crap in fairfield earlier. the hood was open and there was once CHP patrol and one CHP truck (never seen it before). that's crap!

Baffling is whats in a normal non straight through muffler and creates lil chambers for the exhaust to go through. It's to reduce the noise.

You talking about the resonator? Usually all cat backs come with a resonator on the mid pipe to reduce noise, without it the car is extremely loud.

So thats all they look for and you're good?

Its actual walls within the muffler to reduce the dB level of the exhaust.

cop looks into Cobb CBE
Cop:"This has no baffles!!!"
Us:"Um, what's a baffle?"

I got no ticket. He looked for the removable silencer/ baffle. Saw it and said have a nice day.
