that's kinda funny. It's probably more to protect the bumper from the car. I know over hear we had/have a massive problem of people stealing bumpers off vw's. My buddies rear bumper got jacked off his golf out of his drive way.

Probably a prank on the car owner ... tie the tow hook to a sign post, car backs out, front end gets left behind.

Actually, it looks more like a prank pulled by his buddies. Probably because he drives a "chick" car

Yeah a lot of the VW MKIV stuff is swappable. It's odd looking but saw a mkiv golf with a jetta front end the other day. Doesn't help much that the the golf and jetta share some same color codes. Haven't heard a lot about theft of body parts / wheels for the 20th AE GTI and the newer R32 either.

But i'm pretty sure in that picture it is a joke. that tow hook should be a spin-on like the ones we have on the wrx. so using a bike lock is kind of pointless.

Yeah, but try to remove the screw-in tow hook with the cable lock installed, and I guarantee that you won't get more than a full turn. Those things aint too flexible.

Must try this on a WRX
