we used 3M 1080 film which comes in 5'X75' rolls, this should be enough to wrap pretty much any car and have extra for the pieces that you F up (and you will!)
And yeah, that plastidip does NOT stand up well to external use at all

The last car I wrapped took 20min tops but that was a rush job with a roll of U-Haul green cling-wrap. Pro-tip: if you bring a sheet of cardboard it makes it a lot easier to toss the roll under the car for a more complete job.

I've been thinking about vinyl wrapping my subie, though i would totally mess it up if i did the job my self, so it will probably be my next "post deployment present to myself" to get it done professionally.
