Veterans Day Nov 11th

What are you guys doing for Veterans day?
Were/ Are you in the Military?
What service?
How long?
MOS / Rate / Rank (What did you do in the military besides chasing tail?)

I was in the Marine Corps for 4 yrs
My MOS was 0341 which is Infantry Mortarmen.
If you are wondering what a Mortar is see this link
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M252_Mortar

I got out as a Corporal which is an E-4 on the enlisted scale.
My duty stations were
NSB Bangor in Washington where I guarded nuclear warheads for the subs.

Camp Pendleton 1st Bn 5th Marines Wpns company
1 tour to Iraq

I will most likely be at a bar in San Carlos someplace for the Marine Corps birthday on Nov 10th.
I'm planning to take the day off on the 11th

Discuss!

SS soldiers is a tough call. From what ive seen on tv about the SS, i know they were the more radical soldiers willing to do just about anything, am i correct Paul? As for the others... hmmm young and following orders... you almost have to correct?

Help me out Paul... this is a touchy subject for a lot of people.

Here's the deal with the SS...

Up to a certain date, you had to volunteer for the SS.
As the war progressed poorly for the Germans, the SS started conscripting soldiers for their ranks.

If you volunteered for the SS, you're a piece of **** that is hopefully burning in hell.
If you got drafted into the SS, I feel bad for you.

I'll probably try and hook up with my buddy. 1 tour Iraq 82nd airborne. Honorable Discharge. Lost 6 guys in his unit including his battle buddy who lost his head to a mortar.

Got a buddy heading to Iraq on the 10th. Great day to ship out eh.

Hahahaha.........no.

That's an M47 Dragon MAW (Medium Antitank Weapon).

It was a (barely)man portable TOW missile.
The Javelin replaced it.

The SS was mostly a political group. Police officers and government folks. Old family folks trying to make their way up the chains in Germany. Most of them were selfish pieces of **** and it only got worse as the war went on. Not to many true soldiers in the SS. Definitely the minority. Was an easy way to make rank and raise your standing in society. Specially if you thought you were gonna win.
