I've seen drugs like Meth literally destroy lives, families, and friends... Last week I lost yet another friend to drugs... I have always stayed away from them so I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to them so pardon my newbiness...

The question is why do people snort drugs? What is the benefit of snorting over taking something orally? Does snorting something make you inhale the drug?


I've always been curious as to why people snort stuff, I'm especially curious now that my friend passed away from snorting pain killers so I figured some of you guys would know and can provide a good answer.


As a disclaimer I should mention that I have no issues with marijuana and think it should be legalized. It's drugs like meth, crack, etc that I have a hate towards... I don't even know why someone would even want to try something like crack or meth. It's not like they don't know how addicting and dangerous they are, so what would make someone say "Hmmmm, I think I'll smoke crack today".

I know this is a sensitive issue among some people and I'm sorry if this is offensive, its not you that I hate, it's the drugs themselves.

I don't understand how alcohol is legal yet marijuana is illegal... How does that work? I wish they'd legalize it and tax it which would finally legalize the drug but it would make a lot of money for the country then everyone is happy. haahah

 

It hits you faster.

Some people snort ecstasy instead of taking it orally because it hits them faster and harder, but the effects do not last as long.

Some people put the pill up their *** to hit them even harder.

straight into the bloodstream. also, not about drugs but you can put a chew in between your big toe and it goes straight to the main vein in your foot and hits you harder

 

But that doesn't answer the question I had... WHY does it hit you faster? Do you inhale it straight into your lungs if you snort it? Does it stay in your sinus cavity?


You're kidding about the pill in the ***, right?

 

When you snort or sniff the drug it hits your brain faster, it goes right up your nasal passages into you brain. When you take a pill like E it can take up to a hour to hit you, much like a weed cookie or something like that does. To get the best and fastest high you want to snort/sniff the drug or put the drug in your system with a I.V. Most any drug out right now you can take it many different ways. The drugs act faster because they do not have to travel through your digestive track and get absorbed along the way, rather they are chopped up into smaller pieces, giving more surface area for absorption, combined with all the blood vessels in your nose makes it for a much quicker intake into the blood stream. Similar reason to why some choose to chew pills vs. swallow them whole.

You will have some serious issues if you decide to inhale powdered drugs like cocaine or MDMA.

You have very soft tissue inside of your nasal cavity. This allows powder substances to be absorbed quickly and enter into the blood stream. Once inside the blood stream, your heart circulates that substance throughout the body. Your entire body absorbs this substance soon after. Any narcotics will quickly hit the brain and do whatever the narcatic does to the brain to experience the "high" people look for.

A similar yet stronger effect occurs when injecting narcotics directly into the blood stream or a similar effect to "snorting" also occurs when inhaling the smoke from a narcotic (including cigarettes). Whatever gasses enter your lungs will also quickly spread to the blood stream.

Some narcotics shouldn't be ingest orally because the digestive track will either not react well to it, or the active toxins in the drug are destroyed throughout the digestion and therefore do not provide the desired effect.
