I just relized how excited I am for Vellejo. sounds awesome with the surface changes!

sry, that was a bit OT

 

so, just writing a 'story' about what happened, etc....is kind of like....ok, unless I was there or wanted to go an missed it, who cares?

but I'm thinking some kind of article around 'GrassRoots Rally Cross Returns to NorCal (or CA in general)' would be a good story, with the specific event being Vallejo.

SF SCCA dropped RallyX in 2006....in 2007 there were very few rallyX events in NorCal. The ones that were, were FRX related but mainly CRS related, this was the only available 'series'. (FRX had their own series, but basically piggy backed on CRS series).

But FRX helped grow (along with Thunderhill stepping up as well, and joining the FRX series) and within a year, FRX now has its own NorCal AND SoCal Series. (Along with CRS series, which is state-wide)

its prety healthy with 35-50 competitors at each event (my personal goal for Vallejo is +60), blah, blah, blah......does this make sense?

The way I see it, its got a few angles right....RallyX in general on the west coast/CA.....FRX is basically a new organization (been around 3 years, which is brand new compared to SCCA, etc) but is doing very well...and then Vallejo specific.

FRX is planning on using the venue a lot more assuming everything goes well on this weekend event. Including a rally driving school next year with Paul Eklund, etc, etc.

I'm also trying to promote stage rally within...I've invited several local stage rally guys to show up (only one has confirmed though) and get some interest that way and use rallyX as a feeder for special stage competitor pool as well. We have several rallyX guys making the jump this year, I personally will be making the jump next year, etc, etc, etc.

I'm good with thinking up the idea and setting it up, but I can't really write to save my life. I was an engineer in college, we didn't have to.

But at th end of the day its just free promotion, right? I want any/all photos submitted to have a car in the foreground, but sponsor's banner's in the background. That way, if some mag pics up the article and prints one of the pictures, free advertising for them. And I can take that and say, 'hey, we got you $XXX in free advertising this past year.....so lets 'up' the level of sponsorship this year and do even more.

that's the goal....but need some help, can't do it all myself.
