My gf and I are doing a wine pairing party with 2 other couples. If you can cook worth a damn, feel free to steal my menu/pairings - all you have to do is buy the ingredients and cook.

Course 1: German Riesling w/ spiced (cumin, cayenne, salt, pepper) prawns in tomato-cream sauce (you can just used a jar sauce).

Course 2: California Pinot Noir w/ cheese fondue (you can just just do a cheese plate w/ crackers - for cheese, I suggest either a manchego or my favorite, petit basque).

Course 3: Italian Barbera (just regular Napa Valley Cab will work too, or, you can save some money and go with a South American cabernet which I prefer to Napa Cabs) w/ lamb chops (you can just salt & pepper these - nothing fancy required).

Course 4: Tawny port w/ sea salt caramels and chocolate fondue (you can just buy a dark chocolate cake instead, or if you're feeling spendy, buy some gourmet truffles - either will work well with the tawny port).

so i think i have done pretty good here for v-day. i dont like the whole halmarkness of this holiday and i am just using it as a excuse to do something that i want to do with her anyways. its not always about how much you spend, but i think is should be more about spending time with your significant other. i did do typical stuff this year but nothing to special.

i made some dinner reservations in monterey, i got some free tickets to the aquarium, got a hotel room in monterey. instead of buying her flowers i made some out of red tissue paper and some green for the stems. i also made some white ones too. i made a card with photo shop, printed it on some nice card stock i had here in the office. i took the russians v-day episode and made some chocolate covered strawberries and am gonna make some truffels tomorrow morning. i didnt get her some gift because i feel it is better to spend time together then some crappy gift that she wont like anyways.

HAHA Winston you are hilarious...hope things are good man.

I think we are just going to dinner locally. I tried calling a nice steak house, but the reservations were filled up and I really don't mind not haveing to pay around 200 for dinner. We are going to go see Charlie Murphy so that should be good times.
