Urgent question about MBC and BCS (boost related)

Hello!! I recently smogged my car and don't have to smog it for the next two years, so I've been putting some pieces of my subaru puzzle together by collecting parts that'll be going in my car early 2011.. Anyways , I have theese following parts ... VF43, 565cc injectors, pump, inlet hose, TMIC, spark plugs, and 38mm tial wastegate and grimmspeed uppipe , and looking to get a protune.. I was wondering whether I need a 3-port boost solenoid , or a manual boost controller? I spoke to one of the shop reps at a place called P&L motorsports in the east coast and he suggested that I should not get a boost solenoid because they have "boost spikes" ? Do I need both? or will a MBC do? Any imput would be appreciated , Thank YOU!

It really depends on the tuner. I know that EQ tuning loves to use the hallman manual boost controller.

It all depends on the tuner. If it is your destiny to put on a 3 port boost solenoid, you have 2 great choices. Grimmspeed 3 port or the Prodrive 3 port boost solenoid. Plug and Play no splicing.

My car used to be daily driven, but after the parts are in , it will be a weekend car.. conservative tune .. hoping to make 280hp ish.. Hallman RX manual boost controller is coming in the mail, would it be a good idea to also get the 3 port solenoid also? or do i choose one or the other.. thats another $109.. I am a struggling student and saving money to buy parts feels like a birthday gift everytime i receive somethign in the mail..

P.S : Anyone want to buy some 18x7.5 gunmetal rota subzeros w/ kumho ecsta ASX tires? rims are curbed but still shine somewhat after a good clean.. tires have about 50% tread, I am selling for 300 .. Basically giving them away.. Thanks !!! PM for inquiries

Tou should be fine with the MBC since you are only looking to make 280.
The 3 port will be nicer and have better response, but stock vf43 boost levels you probably wont notice much of a difference.

I've been stuck between the two as well. I personally like the idea of having the boost controlled by the computer so that I have the failsafes. I also go through a lot of elevation, pressure, and temperature changes in environment so I figured a 3 port was best for me to help compensate for all these factors. I was told that an MBC is very accurate and makes for good power but that it will always be trying to hit full boost so it makes it tricky when doing partial throttle. I have yet to install one in my car. I'm getting tuned next month, but I already have a 3 port sitting in a box so I think i'm just going to use that.
