Upholsterers?

I just had a roll-over hoop installed and I want my OEM seats cutting a little and making nice by a pro. Does anybody have any recommendations for a good local upholsterer that works on car seats?

I think we have an i-clubber that works at Palo Alto Upholstery. That's the extent of my knowledge of the place though.

I used Metzel Auto Upholstery in SF when I had my entire rear seat redone in the STI. He will also be doing the rear bench seat in the Forester in the near future.

Really fast service and top notch work. Very inexpensive too.

Superior Auto Upholstery in San Carlos has worked on all the seats in my '91 Justy. They have re-done the top of both back seat backs, re-built foam in both front seats, and replaced panels on both front seats - dark grey microfiber and dark grey vinyl. Everything looks great, and it was nicely priced. The last was the front seat where they re-built the foam pad, replaced the vinyl on the side, and re-did two seams that had opened - I think it was $125. They came highly recommended from a shop I used to do some work at that services mostly classic exotics and they send all the interior work over there (leather dashes, bespoke interior pieces, etc).

I keep forgetting I need to write them a review.

One more vote for Metzel in SF. If you want to make the jaunt out to Santa Clara, Bascom is also where it's at.

Thanks guys, I went to Superior upholstery and they measured me up and fitted me in.

I'll post photos of the finished seat

Ohhh forgot about Bascom, they are pretty amazing. They did three completely custom interiors for a friend of mine.

Metzel will. I had talked to him about doing a nicer black carpet for the STI when he did my rear seat.

I paid $350 to have my entire rear seat redone in the STI. (I provided the Bride gradient fabric)

$500 to have a brand new custom one off alcantara cover made for my Forester rear bench so it matches the STI seats I put in.

Hmmmm....

I need to have my caddy done. Leaning toward something like this...

But imagine all the smooth stuff in cream with black stitching.

To strip down my back seat rear piece only and make cutouts for it to fit around the bars, re shape the foam, supply all the new fabric etc will be "around" $400.

Its going to require a fair bit of engineering so I'm happy to pay their price. They were customizing an interior on a old Chevy Nova drag car whilst I waited for them to measure up and where they went around the cage in the Nova looked really neat and tidy
