Upcoming Smog, concerned about injectors
Hey guys, I have to get my car smogged here soon. I've kept all of the factory equipment in storage, but when I replaced my injectors, the old ones got tossed.
I'm worried that when I put my car back to stock for the smog cert, it might be running really rich because of the larger injectors.
I have 1000cc Injector Dynamics.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

Should be fine with your factory downpipe unless your idle is really rich or your cats are bad or you're not tuned for the 1000ccs.

^thats the thing. I was just going to go back to the factory tune, which is 565cc? injectors.
I'll do the work this weekend and see how it goes. Worst comes to worst I'll find a tuner and have it done.

You can leave a lot of "common" mods on and pass easily.
A full MRT catted turboback, aftermarket turbo, catless up, 800cc injectors, etc (what I would call common mods) gave me no issues when I had a smog test. Unfortunately around 130k miles, my cat finally gave up, so I had to get an aftermarket one and it doesn't clean the exhaust as well. Now, I just throw on a stock turboback and it passes easily.
Honestly, I would just throw on your stock turboback and see what happens. For most people, it's enough to pass. Don't pay for another tune unless you need to. A pre-test smog costs around $25 I think.

All you have to do is swap out the downpipe and any "visible" things, and it will pass fine.
Or, if you can wait 30 days more, the new smog system will be online 100% across the state, no more tailpipe checks 01 and newer, just visual and a ECU check to look for codes.

Really? No more tailpipe checks? So running catless would pass smog if your ecu doesnt throw a cel?

Is that 30 days (end of August?) word-of-mouth, or verified via CARB/DMV/etc.?
Ill believe it when i see it. Would/will be nice. Just wonder how much more detailed they will be when they look.

Well the new smog machine requires a dedicated dsl or faster connection so I'm guessing it'll be very detailed as far as what info gets transmitted. I'd fully expect them to check your stock maps a couple years down the line. For now all they'll say is they check the VIN off your computer with the readiness monitors and MIL status.
