i'm not a historian or keep up with world news on a daily basis, but i have a hard time believing anything saddam hussein ever did was as bad as what the burmese govt is allowing to happen (or prevent from happening) in myanmar. if a regime ever needed to be forcabily removed from power, this is it. sad thing is it is already too late.

^^sadly they don't have oil.. (or maybe they do, but probably not like iraq did)
Between Africa, Burma, and a couple other places... there are some places that need help more than can be imagined.
But sadly the last thing people in places like Africa wanna see is more violence. I am a very avid person with the whole Africa ordeal, specifically Uganda and its crazy to think about how much every day death happens there.

^^I am actually in the midst of planning a benefit concert for Invisible Children..
Just trying to get bands and what not on track with it.
And there is a good chance I will goto Uganda October 09, or January 2010. (depends on my situation as I will just have gotten married July 09)

This is sad.. Several more will likely die because of infection and disease.
The US is helping, but because we cant go in the process is extremely slow right now..
But this situation highlights an important lesson..
This is what happens when unarmed people are ran roughshod over by their armed government.

What kind of bands? I am really looking for all genres, from hardcore/metal to folk. I want it to be a big variety... since it will be a variety of people who are interested in helping Invisible Children

Its just sad, and if the military did go over, there would probably end up being violence and somehow the US would be the bad guy.
I hope they can get aid to these people and save some lives.

Contrary to popular belief, the US gov does not meddle in foreign affairs because it believes it has a "police" duty. Contrary to the next popular belief, the US gov does not meddle in foreign affairs "just for oil" (although that's part of it). The real reason why it meddles, and other countries like UK try to do the same thing, is for and excuse to control via the BANKS, ie $$$.
As modeled since WWII, the USA helps "rebuild" countries in need (post war, post disaster, etc) by loaning what boils down to $$$ (aid, relief, military, etc). This in debts the country to the lender (USA); in turn, the USA gains a lot of influence (control) over the country in foreign affairs, use of it's land (ie military bases), import/export trade, etc. This is roughly analogous to the american people being slaves to the lender of their mortgage.
The Bermise military does not want to give up control, so they are not allowing foreign aid to come in so that they can maintain control. Meanwhile, the people suffer.
All world leaders see their "people" as $$$ generators. Keep em just satisfied enough to be productive without uprising.
This is all IMHO of course.
