Uhoh bent wheel bolt

Anyone know how much it cost to replace a bent wheel bolt on front axel? I think the shop overtorqued the nut. I was gonna swap brake pads and while I was undoing the nuts, it bent the bolt. Fml. Dunno how safe it is to drive around...

wheel stud

if your talkin' about a wheel stud, you just take a big hammer/sledge and hammer it in til it comes out the back side of the hub and replace it with a new one and nut tighten it back in.... this goes for GD but I would imagine things like this don't change.

Lol I'm not good with terminology. But if you look at pic, the top left stud(?) is bent. How do I fix? Not too familiar with working on this part of car. Thanks for any help given!

I had actually removed 4 bolts to take off the wheel, but the last one was stuck, because of the bent bolt. i was afraid to go further without breaking the stud(?) off.

if you have to break the stud, break it. You're gonna have to replace it anyway. Just as long as you can remove the wheel undamaged, brake caliper and the brake rotor. Don't know if you'll have to replace that one lug or not, depends on if the stud breaks and partially gets stuck in the lug.

I dont know how someone bends a stud that bad unless they was standing on a short L shaped lug nut wrench trying to break the lugs loose. Impacts can stretch them and break them, but that looks like some serious weight was applied downward on it.

yup, im a dumbass, and i did exactly that. they were on there incredibly tight. lesson learned!

i went to a diy garage today and got it fixed. was not too hard to remove the rotor, and hammer out the bent bolt. but, as luck would have it, one studs on the rear driver side wheel is stripped! gonna have to fix that one too hopefully the rears are not difficult, although i hear there is some ABS ring or something like that in the way.

That is why there is a torque spec for the nuts.

And YES seriously, remove the plastidip IN THE SEAT. Those should ALWAYS be masked when painting or things like this happen...
